Are you still having this issue? We are unable to join friends too
Anyone know why I can't join my friend or invite them, we get the error message saying "Failed to Join Session, only crazy Dave knows why"

Would it be possible to get more information on this?

we have a wireless connection.

Hi, I've been having the same issues, and can provide as much info as I can to help out.
- I play BFN on PC through the EA app.
- My Gamertag is MysticalIDragon.
- The only error message sent is in-game, whenever I try to join my friend, or they try joining me, it brings up a message saying "Failed to join session. Only Crazy Dave knows what happened."
- It doesn't happen during anything specific, it always happens no matter where I try joining from, even when accepting an invite to join outside the game, it loads up and brings up the message above.
- My internet is wired.
- Nothing else has been happening, except for something that did happen a day or two ago, whenever I tried playing BFN, at the start screen it brought up a message, I forgot its exact words but it was something about EA servers being down, and I was unable to play the game for a bit, but after I was able to play again I was unable to join my friends since then.
- I haven't done much to try and resolve the issue, but I made sure my driver is updated, and that my internet connection was stable, I looked through settings in BFN and made sure I was using Dx11.
- I got a clip of myself attempting to invite and join my friends through the Friends tab in BFN, and they confirmed they couldn't join me either in EA app messages. Don't mind the amount of the screen I recorded I somehow messed that up.. I also forgot to copy the EA app Error ID. But at least I got the DxDiag!

it happens in every game mode
The same message over and over “oh no! Failed to join game session. Only crazy Dave knows why that happend.”
me and my friend both restarted are Xbox’s, we both installed and uninstalled the game and it still won’t let us join each other.

- Does this happen to any other account on the device? Not sure
- What type of network are you using? (Wired, Wireless, Hotspot) Wireless
- Is anything else happening? No
- Please share any steps you've tried to far to resolve the issue: Tried to join friend and invite friend, they tried to join me and invite me but all failed, restarted game and psn a number of times. Turned psn off over night and next day tried again still not working.

Hi, this is happening to me too.

- Are you getting an error message? Yes, the same one everybody else has been getting - "Failed to join game session. Only Crazy Dave knows why this happened."
- Does this happen when loading into a specific mode or performing an action in a mode? When I try to join a group in-game.
- Does this happen to any other account on the device? It happens with all the accounts on our Xbox, and our friends elsewhere are having the same issue.
- What type of network are you using? (Wired, Wireless, Hotspot) Wired
- Is anything else happening? On Wednesday 11th October there was apparently some kind of server issue (I got an error message saying the servers were down) and ever since then I've been having this issue when trying to join friends in the game.
- Please share any steps you've tried to far to resolve the issue: Logged out and in again, restarted the game, restarted the console. I've been unable to resolve it.

Happened after a glitched or hacked wizard broke my character and i had to restart my game, his gamertag was ocean archer708
The error says: Can't join, only crazy dave knows what happened. This goes across all accounts and seems to be linked through xbox or a server side error

Hi Everyone,
Thanks so far to everyone who has provided information. If you have not tried the following troubleshooting based on your platform:
All Platforms:
- Verify you have not made any changes to your device/account privacy settings
- Try switching to a different internet network
PlayStation
Spoiler- Clear the systems cache (Close the game completely > Turn off the console > Wait 30-60 seconds > Restart and Relaunch)
- Verify you signed into your PSN account
- Check for updates
- Restore Licence
- Try the steps in our Connection and Advance Connection Guides
- Open your PS5 NAT Type
- Change DNS settings (You can use the public google DNS primary: 8.8.8.8, secondary: 8.8.4.4, unless there is a different DNS you would rather use)
- Entering Safe Mode and Rebuild your PS database
Xbox
Spoiler- Quit the game and other running apps from Quick Resume (For Series X|S consoles)
- Remove any connected device, or additional USB's from the console then restart the Xbox and check
- Check for updates
- Try the steps in our Connection and Advance Connection Guides
- Open you're Xbox NAT Type
- Change DNS settings (You can use the public google DNS primary: 8.8.8.8, secondary: 8.8.4.4, unless there is a different DNS you would rather use)
- Persistent Storage
- Go to settings > Select Device & Connections > Then Blue-Ray
- Select Persistent Storage > Clear Persistent Storage
- Alternate Mac:
- Go to settings > Select General > Then Network settings
- Go to advanced settings > Alternate Mac address > Select clear
- Select restart
PC
Spoiler- Repair/Verify your game based on which client you are launching from
- EA App - Repair (My Collection > Tile Dots > Repair)
- EGS - Repair (Library > Tile dots > Manage > Verify)
- Steam - Verify in your library
- EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery)
- Connection and Advance Connection Guides
- Check for other applications that may be limiting EA App or Game performance
- Run the System File Checker tool then Check for Windows and GPU updates
- Check Drivers, Default to High-Performance GPU: Troubleshooting Graphics issues
- Install/Repair your VC++ files for your game (Microsoft VC++ Link)
- Restart your device in Clean Boot mode, then just try running the client and game
If you continue running into issues inviting friends please let us know the following if you have not:

Wow you are useless repeated the same steps we already gave you this information and I would say good job for providing the Xbox pc and ps4 troubleshooting steps but you literally forgot switch

This only happens when i try to join any of my friends online in giddy park or in a match
I am wirelessI tried uninstalling the game, checking for corrupt data, and resetting the game multiple times

I use nintendo switch and wireless internet. Tried joining all my friends at different times on plants vs zombies and to no avail can I join them or them join me. Error screen only crazy Dave knows why. Please fix ASAP. We need to be able to join our friends. Thanks - Platform: switch

I've done all these steps except for rebuilding in safe mode as not sure this is a console or connection issue since alot of people have the same issue. I'm already on the DNS settings you provided, I haven't made any changes to privacy or settings since this issue arised, im on auto-update and the game and psn is up to date, im on Nat type 2 and never had an issue playing pvz on that Nat type. I have reset my internet, cleared cache, restored licenses, tried two other networks, used a different profile, Please further investigate.

Nintendo switch...I've tried all the same things.
There is no resolution...it has to be a game bug..

We were able to join friends up until the software update for the game that came about a week ago.
Since the season change in Giddy park we had a ton of weird glitches.. when the update came we figured they were addressing those issues... Since that update we have not been able to join anyone at all..

I tried deleting and restarting as welll. Very strange
What about the Nintendo Switch? We are missing troubleshooting for that as well, and we believe is a gamewide bug because its happening on multiple platforms
Ea struggles to help fans and it’s sad
They clearly do not care, they only showed up and asked us the same question twice probably to make it seem like they are actually doing something about it, seems like they are not taking it seriously or have no intentions on fixing the issue. The game might not be getting updates any longer, but they still are selling the game, so this issue should have been resolved days ago. Yet here we are. Nothing done, no progress. It is clearly not an user error, their servers went down then when they came up, suddenly we have this issue. Pretty obvious it is on their part. This is so frustrating.

- tangIewisp2 years agoNew Novice@EA_Illium I've tried the troubleshooting steps for Xbox but unfortunately I am still unable to join any group in-game. Same error message as before. So nothing changed. EA, this bug is affecting everyone I know. It is happening on every console. It's not just a handful of a players, it's a big problem.
