Farm merge valley - feature, not a glitch

 A while ago Pogo had FMV as a challenge, specifically to get x number of bonus merges. I wasn't familiar with the game and had no idea how you get bonus merges, and the gameplay info doesn't cover that (shocking, I know). So, the way it works is you merge 3 items to form 1 item the next level higher. To get the bonus merge you combine 5 items and get 2 of the next level (5:2 instead of 6:2 if you do it 3:1). 

 This also works with money.

Here I have 5 single silver coins, 

And now I have 2 stacks of silver coins, instead of 1 stack and 2 singles.

I'm hanging on to the energy crystals to verify if they bonus merge as well, but I'm confident they will.
