Hello! I understand that encountering white screens and blue screens can be quite concerning, so I’d like to provide you with a better understanding of the situation. These screens are not a result of Pogo. They are produced solely by the device itself when something within the system is not functioning as it should.
What causes a White Screen?
A white screen simply means your browser or device is confused. Our devices are keeping a "memory" of everything we do, think of it like one of those carbon copy receipts we use to get back in the day - there was a white copy, pink copy, yellow copy (or blue copy). Our devices are doing the same thing. The websites we visit are storing little pieces of the site on our devices to help pages load faster.
When Pogo or any website makes any kind of change on their end, whether that's a security update, a behind-the-scenes fix, or adding new features — those stored pieces on our device can become outdated or mismatched with the new updated version of the site. When that happens, our browser and device don’t know what to display, so they display a white screen instead.
The good news is that this doesn’t mean anything is broken. It simply means our device needs a quick refresh of that stored information so it can load the updated site correctly.
🦉 Remember that carbon copy I mentioned above? There are multiple ways to clean our devices from stored information.
What causes a Blue Screen?
A blue screen inside the browser or game window means something prevented the game from rendering correctly. It’s your device’s way of signaling that the browser/device encountered an error it couldn’t recover from in that moment similar to hitting a wall and needing to stop.
Some of the most common causes include:
- An update that installed but has not fully completed (Windows updated this week)
- Outdated graphics drivers: Your graphics driver is what tells your screen what to display. If it is outdated, it can cause display failures. (Just like modern browsers, modern graphics drivers are designed to update frequently, every 2-4 weeks).
- Memory issues: Sometimes older devices have RAM or hardware that is beginning to wear, which can trigger blue screens under load.
- Too many programs running at once: Older devices especially can become overwhelmed, particularly when running a browser-based game that requires heavy graphics processing.
- Browser extensions interacting badly with hardware acceleration: *Extensions like ad blockers, privacy tools, or VPNs can interfere with how your browser processes graphics, especially in browser-based games like Pogo.
- Windows 10 Users. Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 10 in October 2025, this version of Windows is no longer receiving security patches, bug fixes, or compatibility updates. Upgrading to Windows 11 is highly recommended.
💙 I know how frustrating it can be when your screen suddenly turns white or blue, especially when you’re just trying to relax and enjoy your games. I want to reassure you that this isn’t caused by Pogo or any website. These types of screens typically come directly from the device itself.
The good news is that Pogo games are loading normally on the site, and issues like this are often fixable with a few quick checks on the device you’re using.
To help you get back to playing as soon as possible, please take a moment to go through the steps in the Pogo Troubleshooting Guide. It walks you through simple device and system checks that often clear things up right away. If you’d like to explore further, there are also helpful videos and guides online that cover more advanced system cleaning and troubleshooting.
If you continue to experience an issue after completing device and system checks, please follow the steps outlined in How to Report a Problem on Pogo Guide. This process helps the team track trends, occurrences and identifying issues more efficiently.
