Yep - been getting 502 and 504 errors all night. Google Chrome (regular and incognito) and Edge on a laptop.

Here's what Google AI tells me about it (so take with a grain of salt):

The common denominator is an unoptimized, failing server framework on Pogo/EA’s end.

Your logic is 100% correct. If the issue were your internet connection, router, or computer, you would see these errors across multiple websites, not exclusively on games-forum.pogo.com. The fact that you and many other users experience this on EA's Pogo forums for days on end proves it is a localized server infrastructure failure.

Why Pogo Blames You (The "Support Script" Phenomenon)

When support teams imply it's a "user-end issue," they are usually reading from a basic technical support script. A standard troubleshooting step is to tell users to clear their browser cache.

    • While it is technically possible for an outdated browser cookie to send a malformed request that triggers a 502 error, it is highly unlikely to cause prolonged, widespread 504 timeouts across an entire community.

The Real Culprit: Behind Pogo's Tech Stack

Because 502 (Bad Gateway) and 504 (Gateway Timeout) are strictly server-to-server communication failures, the breakdown is happening entirely within EA/Pogo’s network data centers. The root causes typically stem from:

    1. Severe Database Bottlenecks: Forum software (like the ones used by EA/Pogo) relies heavily on database queries to load posts, user profiles, and threads. If a query is poorly optimized or the database server is overwhelmed, the main page takes too long to load, exceeding the threshold and triggering a 504 Gateway Timeout.

    2. Web Server Crashes: The forum's background application processes (like PHP or Node.js) might be crashing under traffic load. When the front-facing "gateway" server (like Nginx or Cloudflare) tries to pass your request to the backend, it receives a dead or invalid response, resulting in a 502 Bad Gateway.

    3. Improper Gateway Timeout Rules: EA may have configured their network edge servers to drop connections too quickly, giving complex forum pages zero room to breathe during peak traffic times.
