Deleting App

I see people say they deleted the app and reloaded it. When I started to do this, Apple phone says data will be deleted. I’m having the frequently reported skipping issue and wondering if this might help. No one seems to be discussing or commenting on any fixes to this issue. Do you lose your city when you do this?  I don’t want to accidentally delete 2+ years of progress because EA keeps screwing up this game. 

Other than EA totally destroying the game, I enjoy playing it, but this skipping total ruins my enjoyment and is frustrating to me.  It makes me do things I don’t want to do because of the skipping or pausing.
