Low/Switching resolution on Samsung S8 and S7 Edge

For the first week or so since owning my new S8, the game looked great, particularly when I launched 4k mode. But just recently your auto graphics settings seem to be confused by the ability of my device to run the game in full resolution and it loads up in a real, really low resolution. It looks awful, all the icons are huge, I can see barely anything due to the tiny field of view and even if I can trick it to attempt to load in a higher resolution, it's then heavily pixelated and ugly.

The highest resolution my phone can display simply never shows in simcity buildit now.

Is this something you're aware of? Please can you resolve it? I've tried resetting the phone, changing resolution, using Samsung game tuner. Nothing works.

The screenshots I've attached are from the same device with the same resolution (the images were the same size on disk, which I had to shrink as they were greater than the max upload limit here). In the nighttime one (taken earlier this week), it's lovely and clear but the daytime one (taken just now) it's really pixelated and low-fidelity. If you want to compare easily, look at the Vu Tower in both pictures. The daytime one is clearly low-res/lower texture resolution compared. Then look at the third pic... this is when the game gets really confused and loads up in a horribly low resolution. This one is easy to compare; this happens now when I load the game in the S8's maximum resolution (this used to look beautiful, like the first image). You can see the huge icons, all the UI elements all stuffed together and generally how low-fidelity everything looks. This shouldn't be happening on this phone.

Edit: OK, so the images are shrunk tons here so it's useless to compare. Here are links to imgur with the images, click on each to show in a higher resolution:

Alternatively, right click the attached images below and open them in a new tab.

I get it that you think setting everything automatically is best but a lot of us know how to tweak graphics settings ourselves. But seeing as we can't, can you please see if you can do something to make sure the game runs at the actual display resolution of the most powerful android phone on the market currently?

😉
