Feedback for Skate Dev Team

First off, I’m really enjoying Skate so far—it’s a solid foundation and has huge potential. That said, I think there are a few areas that could really take the gameplay to the next level (and apologies if I repeat anything that’s already been mentioned or if these features are in the game and I just haven’t discovered them yet—I haven’t played for very long):

ENVIRONMENT
A nighttime mode would bring fresh variety and vibes to the sessions. The city and spots could really come alive with lights, shadows, and a different atmosphere.

TRICKS MISSING/NEEDING IMPROVEMENT

Burtslides and hand plants feel like essential staples that aren’t in the game yet.

On the transition side, it seems like some core tricks are either missing or need polish:
Rock to Fakies
Rock and Rolls
Disasters
Tail stalls and nose stalls are possible, but they’re awkward to execute and inconsistent.

BOARDS
It would be awesome to see shaped boards introduced—different sizes and shapes add a lot of character and style, and they’ve been a big part of skate culture forever.

SOCIAL/COMMUNITY FEATURES

Being able to challenge others to games of SKATE would be super fun.

Adding more social elements—similar to how Fortnite has emotes, casual hangouts, and goofy interactions—would really capture the hijinks side of skate culture.
For example: cafes or bars where players can hang out and/or grab consumables that affect balance, stamina, or energy (buffs or debuffs). These don’t have to be alcohol or drugs—just fun, family-friendly surrogates that add flavor and a little unpredictability.

Teams exist in a basic way now, but expanding that into fully fleshed-out teams with video parts would be amazing and true to the roots of skateboarding culture.

Honestly, leaning into the “Fortnitification” of the game could be really cool—imagine virtual concerts where people are seshing, hanging out, and skating together. That blend of skate culture and social events could make the game a real hub for community.

FILMING AND EDITING
Right now, the filming and editing tools feel a bit like a generic sports game replay system. But skateboarding has always had a huge filming culture, and this is a big opportunity that feels underdeveloped.
Being able to carry a camera in-game, have camera-on-character filming textures, swap out lenses, cameras, and filters, and even purchase them as shop items would make the feature way more engaging.
Making the editor feel closer to real skate video editors—with layering, timing cuts, and authentic styles—would not only fit the culture but also give players a reason to use it a lot more. I think this could become a standout feature if expanded.

Overall, the game has a ton of promise. Expanding the trick set, polishing transitions, adding shaped decks, bringing in a nighttime mode, and leaning into deeper filming/social features could make Skate a complete experience that really captures what skateboarding is all about.

Thanks for all your work—looking forward to seeing how the game evolves!
