Let’s address the biggest issues so we can have the skate game we all deserve.
The new Skate feels like it’s missing a real sense of purpose. Everything you do leads back to cosmetics, and after a few hours that loop gets repetitive because there’s no real reward or progression beyond how your character looks. The game tries to capture a carefree vibe where everyone’s a winner and no one gets hurt, but in doing so it loses the edge and personality that define skateboarding culture.
There’s also a serious lack of depth. You’re running the same missions over and over with little variation or reason to keep pushing forward. The world itself, while technically impressive, suffers from the fact that everything is skateable. It sounds like a good idea, but it ends up making the city feel artificial and lifeless. There’s no contrast between areas, no sense of grounded realism—just a copy-paste playground that breaks immersion. Even the so-called story mode feels directionless and detached, offering little narrative or emotional pull.
To be honest, I don’t see much of a future for this game if there aren’t some big changes. The game is popular for now, but I don’t see any real longevity. If we could get a detailed story mode, more activities like races or photo ops, and maybe a future map rework with better verticality, immersion, and distinct areas instead of imaginary borders, I think Skate could surpass all the others in playability and long-term appeal. It has a solid foundation and plenty of potential—but unless these issues are addressed, it may struggle to keep players invested.
