My complaints three hours in
First off, I believe the feedback QR code in the game is still linking to the closed play test as when I scan it, it simply says I do not have access to this area of EA Forums.
Moving on, I adamantly hate the loot boxes but I could’ve put up with them if I didn’t have to sit through two loading screens to get an item from a box. One to say “you unlocked something” and another to say “congratulations” you unlocked something. Like who thought this was okay? Was this to simply inflate the metric of “time spent in store?”
If we are going to keep the loot boxes, please give us the option to open multiple boxes at a time. And stop pulling me back to the first box in a set because at levels 4 and 9 it’s annoying having to select the box, open the box, sit through 4 different screens, and then go back to selecting the box and repeating the process. It is ludicrous to me that the very mechanism of greed you have prioritized over the core gameplay or culture of the Skate series isn’t even streamlined. Like if you’re going to defile the grave of this beloved series at least have the decency to place the care that should’ve gone to making a decent game into the loot box system.
If I have a mission tracked but have decided to just grind the dailies or challenges, every time I finish a challenge the dialogue for the current mission starts playing. So every 2-5 minutes I just hear some awful and underpaid voice actor telling me to checkout something I don’t care about.
I like the styling system. I hate how every single article of clothing is locked behind a loot box system. Disgusting.
The skating feels nice, the ability to fine tune between realistic to cartoonish based off my preference, and with honestly more options than I thought could exist for such preferences, is pretty neat.
Rolling around everywhere is pretty fun.
Getting rid of Hall of Meat to cater to a younger audience is the ridiculous. I was entering high school when Skate 3 dropped and jumping off buildings just to get that satisfying SPLAT with broken bones was so much fun. It’s probably what kept me playing long after the story was completed. It’s just hilarious, simple, and fun. Now when I take a fall from a large height it feels so underwhelming and lackluster.
6/10, will probably forget about this game in a week.
