Serious concerns
I have some serious concerns about the future of the game. I currently have 6hrs 48 min on PC and 1d1h47m on xbox. I think the base gameplay is very solid and have thought so since the playtests. However, I don't think the game should've been released without some key gameplay content and elements. The game is seriously lacking in things to do with friends besides free skating. Doing 'missions' with friends is not fun and throw downs could use somewhat of an overhaul. The area for throwdowns is far too small, especially if they are to take the place of something like the jam event. I am also very confused as to why S.K.A.T.E, spot battles, and one up are still not in the game. (nor were they even mentioned in the season 3 trailer which the roadmap said more 'game modes' would come with this season) These were KEY features for multiplayer in previous games. I think season 2 was decent and the underground area was a nice addition to the game. I feel it would be a huge win for the game if you guys were to release the previously mentioned game modes as an extension of the throwdown system. So basically, you could choose an area or even highlight an obstacle in that area and be able to choose a game mode to play. For example, you highlight a rail and pick S.K.A.T.E or spot battle and then you play the game mode on that obstacle. For S.K.A.T.E, say you do a kickflip into a smith grind and shuvit out the opponent would have to do all three parts of said trick. Spot battle should obviously work as it did in skate 3, like it would on something like the wrong hole spot. I think another thing that would help with community reception would be a FULL aesthetic change for character models. The whole cartoon-esc thing clearly isn't well received and could use a change of direction (Like more realistic characters). Another thing that is poorly received is the whole no injuries/imprevatech stuff. Now I'm not asking to have to wait for my character to heal from a slam while trying a trick but simply something like scratches and scrapes or even like the Hall of meat style X-ray when falling. (broken boards on huge impacts would also go a long way for immersion) These would help with the cartoony aesthetic as well. (A toggle in the menus or slider for adjusting the requirements for a board break would also be a good idea) I mention that last point because falls are a HUGE part of actually skating and not having something like that is a big break in the immersion.
