The game keeps crashing
Why is it everytime i get in and i skate for like 20 seconds, my game just crashes, this was after the new update so its not because of my pc, its so terrible
I was able to get the game working on PC. Here's my two cents in hopes of helping some of you guys.
Initially, I was met with a long, long loading screen, but not an infinite one. The game would sometimes crash, and other times it would load me in and let me play for up to a minute before crashing. My first attempt to fix the issue was disabling cross-play during one of the times it made it to the menu before crashing. Initially, that did nothing and the crash persisted.
Next, I verified the steam game files. 3 files were corrupted, and they redownloaded - didn't fix the crashing.
I then took someone else's advice from below, browsed my local disk to the game files, and renamed the 'Data' folder to 'Skate.Old' - still no fix.
Then I found a comment on the Steam forums, and a gentleman suggested doing the following:
Uninstall Skate from Steam. Re-download Skate through the EA app. Go back to Steam and add Skate as a non-steam game.
After doing that, the game now loads for me in a halfway-decent amount of time, and I was able to play multiple sessions that lasted a few hours each without issue. I was able to fast travel and complete challenges, and didn't experience any lag or stuttering that some others have mentioned experiencing.
I don't know if the fix is a combination of the EA re-download, or cross-play being turned off, or both. I don't want to re-break the game, so I'll leave that mystery for someone else to figure out.
Good luck!
