The map needs MORE FLOW
This doesn't get discussed often but the map is seriously lacking flow. I noticed it at first when I wanted to go to the other side of the Hedgemont plaza for a challenge. The only way to do it is either fast travel, climb up from the 1 or 2 accessible spots or to go around it. In almost all skating games the map has a flow so the player doesn't get disrupted while doing their line, but in skate. the map feels too disruptive in this regard.
Speaking of the plaza, it feels like a lot of wasted space - wide open areas with not many objects in between. The map is already feels small so having these huge plazas where there's not many good spots to hit feels like a missed opportunity. Instead if we had more urban environments it would make the game feel more grounded in realism and give the map creators more opportunity for spots to hit.
Less important critiques of the map would be misaligned parts and objects cluttered in one spot. Kickers aren't placed properly to the ground so you bump into it, and for some reason spots are just cluttered with objects with little to no spacing which disrupts natural flow.
