This is sad :(

This is an extract from the latest EA update email:

One thing to note: we’re not looking to remake Skate (2007), Skate 2, or Skate 3, so our focus is on the future, while bringing along the history of the franchise and things we all loved that got us to this point.

I guess we all knew it to be true, but didn't want to let go of the dream that Skate 4 was going to be a reality. Instead it looks like the new Skate game is set in it's ways and completely moving away from the games we grew to love.

It’s because releasing an actual good and immersive game won’t make as much money as shoving in-game purchases for subscriptions, passes, and skins down our throats. At least that’s what EA thinks.  The gameplay for Skate4 isn’t bad but the packaging screams corporate greed.

This is exactly the issue long term fans are upset with.

i dont think it means "were ignoring the old games and doing our own thing". its more about people who complained about the art style and open world bc all they want is more skate 3 and nothing new. theres a lot missing from 4 and they know that. the awful story, no s.k.a.t.e challenges, no breaking bones in stunts/hall of meat, no irl skaters, always online with server issues, none of that is on purpose its just ea management making full circle work on cosmetics over the actual game
