Connection issues

EDIT:  I’ve continued investigating things from my end, and I think I’ve stumbled across what may be the issue. I noticed that my internet connection was a third the speed that it usually is; jiggling the Ethernet cable restored full speed. Every other time I’ve checked prior it’s been at normal speed, but after frequent checking following the first drop in speed I noticed one other time where the speed was dropped, and once again in that instance jiggling the cable resumed normal speed. I played yesterday on WiFi instead and did crash to menu once, but it was without error messages and everyone else in the match crashed back to menu as well. So I’m now suspecting my Ethernet port may have become damaged leading to the bulk of my issues. I didn’t previously pick up on it because no other applications/games had been affected for some reason, and I only caught the drop in speed by chance. And because the crashes started around the time of the update announcement and other people I knew were experiencing crashes too, a problem at the EA server end had become my primary suspicion. But maybe it was just unfortunate coincidence.

I’m gonna keep playing via WiFi and see if the error messages continue; if they do I’ll provide another update, but I’m posting this now because I don’t want to keep wasting anyone’s time in the event that someone from EA  is looking into it, and if it turns out that my Ethernet port was the problem then I deeply apologize for any time I’ve wasted.

End edit

—————————————————————————————

Ever since the server-side update several weeks ago I’ve been getting regularly kicked from lobbies (sometimes during the match and sometimes before the match has even started). I’ve been playing the game regularly since 2019 and have never experienced anything like this. In the past I may have been kicked a couple of times per year at most, but now it’s happening almost every day. I’m also more frequently experienced red bar connections. Often the kicks are accompanied by error messages but occasionally I just find myself kicked to menu screen with no apparent errors, but then a lost connection error will occur when I try to search again. There have been a number of error codes; I’ve attached all the ones I’ve seen recently. I made a picture demonstrating one of the flows of error messages I receive too, where I get error 672 and then when I click reconnect I get error 721.

Nothing has changed with my setup, and I’ve tried every network and graphics related troubleshooting step that EA support suggested before they recommended again that I post here. I’ve also tried completely uninstalling battlefront 2 and the EA app and reinstalling both, and the issues still persist. I noticed that battlefront 2 had a big server outage last week and the connection instability has continued, so this seems to be an issue at the EA server end rather than an issue with my setup.

To those at EA who work in this area, please look into this, as something has gone very wrong and being kicked from lobbies most days is a game breaking problem. This is occurring on PC and I’m playing via the EA app. Thank you.

The post says the exploits were reported by the Kyber team in 2025; that doesn’t mean the fixes are instantly made. It would make sense to confirm deployment of a fix when it’d actually been deployed, and besides which, the hacks that were happening en masse stopped after the date that the confirmation was posted.

I also just want to say, how do you think you’d feel if a company made changes that suddenly made your’s and other’s games more unstable, you went through the rigmarole of thoroughly checking everything at your end even though the instability coincided with changes the company had made, you got the run around from the company support and then they directed you to a forum that it looks like most players of the 8 year old game don’t even use or look at, and instead of your at-times gamebreaking issue being looked at, you’re stuck with a couple of random people failing to read the post and linked information properly and immediately trying to shoot the poster down and say they’re wrong instead of double checking their own opinions? Do you reckon you’d be happy about that if it were you  trying to seek support instead of me?

To anyone in the EA dev teams reading this as support suggests that you are, this is a really horrible system for getting bugs identified and resolved. I paid for this game (more than one copy in fact), and I performed extensive troubleshooting at my end. It shouldn’t be this hard for you to give a bit of one on one support so that someone who’s played the game most days for six years can keep playing the game with the same stability of connection that they’ve had across every single one of those years prior to your latest server side change.

If you’re disrespectful to other people’s intelligence then it’s quite a push to expect them to respect you. I have over 5000 hours in the game, so I’m not new to it either. But hours in the game doesn’t automatically translate to greater knowledge of what’s going on behind the scenes, otherwise you wouldn’t have made your previous, seemingly erroneous comments with regard to the server side updates. Unless Kyber is misleading everyone, which wouldn’t make sense since they have communication with EA.

If you have evidence for your statements that “it’s just for their server” or “nothing new has been done recently”, then please share it; I’d love to see it.

What they say hear. all of these where done months ago. It doesn’t says anything about the new now. Connection issues have been here for years. One hack is to kick people from the lobby. Yes EA does need to fix things and do maintenance on the servers would help with some things. Plus another thing some of the hack came from people that have work for kyber. So they themselves are not so innocent.

Additional News - Base Game Server Update
We are pleased to confirm that EA have deployed server-side fixes for multiple game-breaking exploits.
Fixes are included for mass teleports & respawns in Galactic Assault, infinite timers in Supremacy, and more.
Thanks to EA & DICE's continued support for its older titles, most of the 16 game server exploits our team reported in 2025 have been patched, and multiplayer playability is now significantly improved
