Same with me. Day one Project Scorpio Xbox One X owner. This always crashes every time its about to reveal the crate contents. Maybe they didn't test that part on the Xbox One X and it crashes the system hard. Every time. EA will blame the hardware, MS will blame the game. They need to work together to solve this problem.
It doesn't seem like it should be stressful, no, but prior to the crashing I noticed an uptick in the fan when I opened crates. There may be some weird or poorly optimized code involved from when crates had to sync with the server. Obviously I can't say with absolute certainty, but a hardware swap on the same software version fixed it and that's indicative of something.
I just bought the game last week. I have a Scorpio Edition Xbox One X and the loot box crashes are happening for me too. Every time. When it reboots I get a warning saying that the system shut down to protect itself from overheating.
