5 years agoUpdates to Abandon Match Penalties
Hey, Pilots!
We have made some changes to how Penalties work for people abandoning a multiplayer match in patch 2.0:
First, in any multiplayer mode, abandoning the Briefing Room/Hangar (Lobby) before the match starts will get you a minor Leaver Penalty. Now for the match in-progress changes:
Dogfight and Fleet Battles vs AI
Abandoning a match in-progress will get you the following:
- Any progression during the match will not be recorded. This includes experience and daily challenges progression.
- A loss is given, but MMR will not be adjusted.
- Leaver Penalty.
Fleet Battles vs AI allows players to rejoin within 2 minutes after abandoning. Players rejoining the match will not suffer the consequences described above. However, you cannot rejoin a Dogfight match once abandoned.
On both modes, the game will attempt to backfill the match with a new player.
For all the other players still in the match, the game will continue as usual. All progression and stats will be handled normally.
Fleet Battles (ranked)
Abandoning a match in-progress will get you the following unless you rejoin within 2 minutes:
- Any progression during the match will not be recorded. This includes experience and daily challenges progression.
- A loss is given, and only SR will be adjusted. MMR stays the same as before the abandonment.
- A significant Leaver Penalty.
For all other players in that match: A forfeit voting system will get enabled. Once a player abandons a match in-progress, the affected team will be able to vote to surrender as a team. Players can vote only once during the match, and they won't be able to change their votes later. If all players vote yes, the voting team loses the game. The winning team gets full rewards and SR/MMR adjustments. The losing team gets full progression and a reduced SR/MMR adjustment based on the number of teammates that stayed until the end of the match (via surrender or via regular means).
About Leaver Penalty
Accumulating Leaver Penalty will get the player into Low Priority Queue (LPQ) for multiplayer matches. The LPQ might get the player to experience longer queue times. To clear the penalties and leave the LPQ, the player will need to complete a number of multiplayer matches proportional to his/her/their accumulated Leaver Penalty. So, the more the player abandons multiplayer matches, the more matches the player will need to complete to remove the Penalty.
