For the people who aren't just venting their frustrations and asking for refunds, I've been at it troubleshooting for hours and have finally gotten my game working. I had the not launching at all issue, crashing on menu, crashing during cutscenes, etc. This game was not ready for PCs across the board, some users are 100% ok and some are struggling like us. Steps that follow are a pain in the butt, but if you'd rather just return the game, cool. Just here to try and help other people out:
That's how I was able to "cleanly" re-install the game. I did a couple other things that may not even be needed; but my game is working right now, so I'm keeping it this way til a patch comes out:
These of course are all just workarounds for those that can't wait for a patch to be released. It feels to me as if this game was built specifically for consoles and we received a very raw port.
Proof(Ultra settings/60FPS) - no spoilers(though I'm going to tag it anyway), this is one of many side-rooms that is very early on.
The game does not start, reinstalled everything a million times, disabled my firewall, ran as administrator, reinstalled my video card drivers etc...
Here's what worked for me. I just shut down all PCs but one in my local Wi-Fi network, then started the game on active PC and it worked!
I tried a few more things but ended up requesting a refund... last ea game I will touch.
My game won't start, same issue as others. Have I paid 70 Eur, just to watch start screen for 30 minutes or longer? Wh,y the hell, do I need to be online??? Is this an MMO game?
This is a complete rip off, I haven't see anything like that ever.
if you compare this to Witcher games, no...you cannot, this is just beyond anything.
How do one claim a refund?
anyway I attach the diag file, maybe someone knows something.
Same. Dxdiag dropped.
I'm having the same issue as everyone else. I've spent 3 hours trying every recommended fix. (uninstall/reinstall origin and game, whitelisted in antivirus and firewall, flushed DNS, reinstalled windows and graphics drivers, run as admin). No change. I waited in queue for 30 minutes to talk to a Tech Support Specialist who had very little to offer, and had to be repeatedly explained the symptoms and attempted fixes. I cancelled my Premier Access and bought it on Steam after frustration, only to discover that the Steam version just launches the broken Origin version. sigh. DxDiag attached.
Thank you for attaching the DxDiags. For some of you I see some outdated video cards and I'm concerned there might be a process running in the background that's stopping the game from successfully launching. Can you all try a clean boot which will temporarily disable all non-Microsoft essential services to run the PC and then try immediately launch Origin as administrator.
I'm sure a lot of you have attempted some of these basic steps below, however I'm throwing them out there for others that are now jumping into the conversation.
I have done on the steps that you listed.
Here is my dxdiag log file.
One odd thing that I will note. I was able to get the game to launch on my i5-7640x, however when i changed over to an I9-9900x, the game refuses to launch. I do not get an error messages. Monitoring the task manager i see the task load up, take up to 500MB of memory, process vanishes, then starts back up (500MB load again), then returns back to the origin launcher.
I will test with the 7640x, just to see, it that does in fact launch again.
Update : Just Swapped out the proc, still fails to launch now.
I am also seeing this, where Jedi Fallen Order starts and it takes up about 500 MB also, looks like there are two instances of it however. I've got a 2600x and RTX 2070.
Update: So I attempted to run NFS Heat, and I was getting the same issue.
I ended up clearing the Origin Cache, and then uninstalling Origin with Revo Uninstaller. I did not remove the LocalContent folder however at the end step of the advanced scan on Revo.
I rebooted, and reinstalled Origin, lo and behold, I have now booted in to the game.
Update 1: Come Sunday, now it won't start up again.
Pretty sure Origin is just hot garbage.
Just reinstalled Origin again, and now it works.
Something funky is going on.
