EA app says I'm offline when trying to launch Jedi: Survivor

I'm on a Windows 10 PC, and I'm trying to launch the Jedi: Survivor game that I bought through Steam. Whenever I try to launch it, I get the modal that it's preparing the game, and then I get an error notice that says my computer is offline and I need to connect to the internet. I've made sure my date/time is correct, I've done a clean reboot, I've cleared the app's cache multiple times, I've tried reinstalling both the EA App and the Jedi: Survivor game multiple times, I've verified all the files from Steam for the game, and nothing is working. I did install both the EA App and the Jedi: Survivor game on my D drive instead of my C drive, but it's not an issue for my other game (see below).

I found that I can run the EA App in offline mode, but when I try to launch the Jedi: Survivor game in offline mode, I get "Error code: EC:204" saying that my game license has expired and I need to launch the game while online to renew it. I've tried looking on the website to see if I can launch the game from there, but since I didn't buy the game through EA (I bought it through Steam), there's nothing I can do from there.

I was able to play the game when it first came out (back when y'all were using Origin), but I hadn't touched the game in a year or so. Now I'm wanting to play again, and I can't get it to launch. I've also tried installing Origin again, but that installation always throws an error and fails (I'm assuming because it is no longer supported).

I did try launching the Jedi: Fallen Order game, and that launched just fine both online and offline, so I'm really not sure why Jedi: Survivor is not working.

I did submit an error report. Here is is the report ID: eb607702-002e-4517-8509-6db55c70c29e

  • So, I ended up "breaking" Fallen Order as well while I was digging around in the Program Files for the app. However, I did finally figure out the problem.

Both games hit a proxy site to certify themselves with EA, and I have an app on my computer that blocks all proxies. After whitelisting the site that the games needed to hit, I'm now able to play them.

So thankfully it wasn't actually an issue with the EA App or any of the games.

  • "I did install both the EA App and the Jedi: Survivor game on my D drive instead of my C drive" -  As long as you've confirmed you have plenty of free space on your drives, this is fine. I've been doing it for years.

"I bought it through Steam" - Then, you need to always launch from Steam.

"I've also tried installing Origin" - don't. Make sure Origin is completely uninstalled.

"I did try launching the Jedi: Fallen Order game, and that launched just fine both online and offline, so I'm really not sure why Jedi: Survivor is not working." - good to know Fallen is working for you. Bad connections can be server (and game) specific.

How many days in a row have you had the issue?

    It rarely is.

Thanks for posting your solution. It very well may help others.

You mind posting how you determined it was a proxy site?
