@Orion_Infernal  I did this after seeing your post, in a save where I've completed everything except the last mission on Koboh.  I didn't do anything special, just fast-traveled to the Boiling Bluff and grappled to the spire close to the bird.  It was there and so was the prompt to clicl Ctrl.

I'd definitely traveled off-planet and back between the two instances of traveling with the bird though.
