@Claireshroom  If your objective is still "open the forest gate," then the current mission has nothing to do with the Alignment Control Center.  Please exit the center, turn right, and walk along the river until you come to the forest gate.  You may need to drop down to the river itself, go past the gate, climb up to a higher level, and backtrack; I don't remember exactly how many ways there are to access the area where the gate is.
