Ok I may have found a workaround for this...
I followed a suggestion from a steam forum entry (this one), and installed DualSenseX.
Install DualsenseX, launch it, go to controller settings and enable controller audio support.
With DualSenseX still open, launch Jedi Survivor. The sound should be played correctly now.
You now can & should close DualSenseX, as it interferes with the haptic feedback stuff etc. The sound will still work after closing it. 🙂

Yes, this works, thank you! Unfortunately you have to turn on DualSenseX each time you start the game again.
