Can only log into launcher in Safe Mode

Am running Windows 10. Trying to install the game, but can't even log in.  Constantly get the "Login service is unavailible at this time."

I know it's a common issue, but I've done everything in all of the threads several times.  I'm using ESET Security and have tried turning protocol filtering off, checked date and time, flushed DNS cache, etc... Nada.

2016-09-13 14:00:13 INFO Patching end
2016-09-13 14:01:11 INFO User logs in.
2016-09-13 14:01:13 INFO Login failure #-134 recorded
2016-09-13 14:01:13 ERROR Server did not properly respond to authenticate: -134

Is the log.  I loaded up Safe Mode and lo and behold it worked, so it means something I'm running is preventing my computer from logging in.  I can't really play the game in safe mode though.  I want to be able to play it in normal mode.

I've sorted my Firewall settings, done everything I need to in ESET, and done everything listed multiple times.  I can't for the life of me figure out what is giving me this error.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi @naaaadroj,

In this article you will find a list of other programs and apps to watch out for.

Hopefully it will help with your investigation.

If it is simple to uninstall ESET and re-try as a test is worthwhile, providing it is easy for you to re-install ESET afterwards

It has been a fair while since coming across an issue with ESET and protocol filtering as the cause (but it was certainly a common issue with eset).

What occurs under a clean boot (Link) rather then safe mode ? (if using bitraider you will need to leave the bitraider services enabled like bitraider mini support service stub loader).

Thanks for the reply.  Started with Clean Boot, same problem.  Problem only leaves when I log in with safe mode.  It's fine for installing the game, but that doesn't matter if I can't log into play it anyways.

can you uninstall eset just to be sure it isnt the cause ? thats if re-installing eset again later isnt too much of an issue.

once eset is fully eliminated can go from there.

Unfortunately at this time uninstalling ESET isn't really a possibility.  I checked ESET's Network activity monitor after trying to log in and noticed that when I tried to log in data was sent but not received.  Does this help at all? Is there a certain port I need to allow or something? My router has a firewall, but if I could get through in Safe Mode I'm assuming it can't be that?

In ESET last time i looked protocol filtering has its own exception list separate to the main one, just to confirm you are adding both launcher.exe and swtor.exe to all the exception lists ?

Check windows firewall as well for launcher.exe , ensure it is allowing inbound and outbound and is set for public along with private networks

Another thing to try is disabling as a test SSL filtering likely located under advanced>web and email>web access>

    See this link

Mate, you are my hero. I nearly gave up hope, but your solution with ESET protocol and SSL filtering was a hit. Thanks.
