Client crashes when I hit Play

I was able to play earlier today, but then the client started crashing after I hit Play. 
Details:
- the updater bar that usually appears in the lower left isn't showing up after I hit Log In, but the Play button becomes active
- I'm on Windows 11 Version 25H@ (OS Build 26200.8037)
- I have uninstalled and reinstalled the game
- I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps in this guide:

I realize it's 10 years old, but I can't find anything else that seems to be helpful. There don't seem to be any posts about this issue that are newer than 2024.
