I keep getting disconnected from the game, I've tried a lot of stuff from the forums, nothing seems to help, I've bought the CE for SWTOR, and even played a fair bit at launch and a bit after. I would like to try the new content and subscribe, but I have to get the game to work first, please help. How can I maintain a steady connection?I would like to mention that I have a roommate who has a separate PC, but uses the same connection to the internet (we are both using wired connections to the same router). He doesn't get disconnected from the game, but I do. After I connect to the server and begin playing with my character I get disconnected after a few minutes. It seems to get me disconnected faster in the evening and less fast in the morning, but still at most I can play around 5-10 mins before getting DC'ed. I am running windows 10, my drivers are up to date. I've played other games and MMOs and none have this issue. Please Help.Kind Regards,Ace

Add swtor.exe and launcher.exe into your firewall and anti-virus safe list, just incase they are causing the programs to shut down. If that doesn't work, run a repair: Non-Streaming launcher - Log into the launcher but don't click Play. Check for small letters "ST" in the bottom left corner. If this is NOT present, click the cog icon and then run the repair option. Streaming launcher - If the letters "ST" is present, close the launcher, right mouse click on the game shortcut, select open file location and delete the BitRaider folder. Then start the launcher. If your using the streaming launcher, bitraider could be locking up causing the crash. To disable it you would do the following: NOTE this is a complete download of the game again right mouse click on game shortcut and select open file location open the launcher.settings file in notepad and locate the below line and edit to the below , "PatchingMode": "{ \"swtor\": \"SSN\" }", "bitraider_disable": true SAVE the changes. Delete the BitRaider, Movie and Asset folders then start the launcher.

you said that you both are running on a wired connection. Is it into a wired router or wireless router? You said your on Windows 10, is your roommate on windows 10 as well?

@BelgoradIt's a wired router.He is on windows 7, but I have tried win 7 8 and 10 on my machine and all had the same error.BTW thanks for helping.

@Belgorad Also here both wired to the modem, from the picture there he had the all the game ports forwarded to one IP , but I think he added these recently so asked for them to be removed. Forwarding 20000 ports to one IP, apart from the security aspect the ports wont be needed to be forwarded, his flat mate plays fine with no issues.

I keep getting disconnected from the game. It was error 9000 a year ago.

On your machine try a reboot of the router and then do a DNS flush on your computer. To do a DNS flush do click Start, go to Search and type CMD, then press enter. In the Command Prompt window type:

ipconfig /flushdns

press enter.

If you have formatted that desktop and used 3 different operating systems and the issue persisted on all 3 OSs, then I would be trialing a different network adapter / cable in the first instance.

The fact your flatmate has no issue on the same internal network with the same game, should mean there is no issue for you either, why there is , is the real question.

Sorry I have been sleeping on the job again, I always miss out on the fun when it's my nap time.

@Ace_Hammerheart (Deleted owen's link, don't like talking to him) Please allow me to make a coffee and play catch up more as I have already skimmed, just had a few thoughts while napping.

I don't believe we have actually talked about firewalls and background programs as such yet, granted a solid firewall would certainly have a you shall not pass feel rather then a you can play.. you can play .. and now we stop! feel to your connection. But a Auto DNS conflict certainly would...

Another option that worked for me was I edited my Local Area Connection - turning on discovery, and changed my TCP/IV4>DNS and gave it an actual DNS server to use rather then auto discover one

*These changes will require a reboot to take effect .. remember... Just had a nap, barely finished my coffee.... Owen should step in here and say "Woody your being silly" if I am completely off base.

No suggestion is silly , my thoughts though is that considering he is ingame and has an established connection with established ports and IP address.

The DNS server as a domain name service , resolves the names like www.swtor.com to an IP address so it knows its address effectively. best of my knowledge once the game is running there is no name lookup occurring like what occurs in the launcher. Something is interfering though either as a connection issue under load or something is actively blocking the port/s being used, or the maybe the laptop is getting hot playing and revealing a hardware issue ? or it is getting bogged down resource wise and the laptop struggles, the game forgets its connected.

I certainly am human and don't have the answers to the universe , well ok the answer is 42
