Launcher is just a white box

Question

I havent played in I dont know how many years. Was an early access guy back in 2011 and played for a year or two...forgot to unsubscribe and ended up with 10 years of cartel credits until i remembered to cancel in 2021. My boys are getting old enough and I wanted to introduce them to this game and so i downloaded the launcher on their laptop and guess what...the launcher wont work. just pops up a white box. Running it as admin, running it in compatibility mode,...and still nothing. Anyone know how to get the launcher working on a new computer? Thanks

I gather you have used the current installer from https://swtor-a.akamaihd.net/installer/SWTOR_setup.exe

Some have found they have needed to install directx 9 legacy files https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35
otherwise try installing C++ via https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe , all else fails install the game via steam

I did use the current installer and downloaded all the things you have mentioned. Still wont load. Its crazy that even back in 2011-2012 the launcher was always buggy and I would carry around a completely downloaded copy on an external drive just to make sure it worked and loaded for me. 13 years later and it still has problems...

likely another program is interfering, not seen any other reports recently like yours to be honest
Windows 11 i presume ? compat mode shouldnt be required, ensure all optional windows updates are done as well

Steam launcher do the same thing ? its slightly different to the standalone launcher
