Hi, not meaning to revive this post after so long, but I just wanted to point something out in case you weren't aware. The tradition in Star Wars of referring to women as sir has nothing whatsoever to do with transgender or 'woke' politics. In the Clone Wars, all officers and Jedi, regardless of species or sex, are addressed as sir.
Furthermore, in other countries than the US and throughout various periods of history, 'sir' has been gender-neutral, while 'ma'am' has been specific to women. It's not being taken seriously or ever going to be fixed because it's a canonical fact in Star Wars - at least in military settings - that the appropriate term of address for all personnel is 'sir'.
Female officers have only been referred to as 'ma'am' in the most recent bits of Star Wars (Andor, a few times). To my recollection, there were no female military officers visible in the original trilogy, and no female Jedi addressed at all by clones during the prequels, so the precedent is set by the Clone Wars.
Also, just going to point out, Star Wars is set in a galaxy far far away. They don't have to follow the linguistic constrictions of modern American English. I am sorry that the term makes (or made) you uncomfortable, but it is a simple fact of the setting, and is as unlikely to be removed from the game as lightsabers or droids.
