One-time Password
I recently created a new account as no matter what I did I couldn't recover my old one. Now, I take about a weeks break from the game and my new account, which I have spent money on, and I'm being as...
Sorry but all that did was nearly give me a virus.
@wolvenneklaw Thanks for the post, what details were you given? Whle the linked site is for a 3rd party program and can't be guaranteed, it does appear to be legitimate/trustworthy from what I've seen. That said it is of course wise to be constantly diligent, so if you can provide info about your experience that should help.
Thanks again.
I tried downloading the Authentication App and Avast spammed me with messages saying that it can't trust it and it's got suspicious content.
Avast may be reading it as a false positive. I downloaded it and ran it and my Windows Defender doesn't see it as a virus. This program is mentioned throughout the main swtor forums to use if you don't have a phone. It doesn't even install just runs from the computer. Just set Avast to ignore it or add it as a trusted program to bypass it. Once that is done and you run it choose to use Google Authentication as it uses the same encryption type the official app uses.
So I used it, it accepted the code and still asked for the One Time Password.
Was this after logging into swtor.com and adding the security key to your account?
Yes.
What email addresses have you tried to send the one-time password to? I use gmail and haven't had issues before. Do you have any settings in place to automatically empty your junk / spam folder, any email addresses in the block list?
I use Hotmail and I have never had a single problem with anything e-mail related besides from the previous problem with the one time password with my last account. All e-mails, no matter what type, come through which is why my inbox has over 2000 e-mails that I constantly search through and 100+ junk files that I weekly remove if they are irrelevant like PPI messages, Dating Websites etc..
I am waiting for a verification link, so our problem seems to be similar.
Two persons suggested me to call the office, so if you're really into this, then go and grab a phone (or Skype).
If you're not going to call them, I suggest to come over it and deinstall / delete all files that relates to SWTOR,
--> i hope your problem is solved now
Try a gmail. just create a gmail account to use to receive the verification email. I'm in the same situation, I use gmail and have always received emails from swtor including the promos that had cartel coins or codes or just advertisements for xpac's. I don't know why it's not working with hotmail but I would just test with a gmail to see if it is received. As before ensure that you go to settings >> labels and make sure all labels are active in case it gets sorted into one of those.
Leave the security key attached, once you verify with a gmail account, you can switch your email back to your hotmail and then it should no longer ask for the onetime password since your using a security key.
Hey, having a similar problem. Despite having been using this laptop on and off for over a year, it still asks me. However, I'm not receiving the emails, double triple checked all locations. I called the support number, it said the line had been disconnected. I can log onto the game, just not the website, so I tried opening a ticket for help, but the button is grey and doesn't work; I have a few tickets open from reporting credit spam sellers and I tried closing them to make sense but the game just said no. I can't get a security code to help with the one time password because I need to log on, and I can't do that because I need a one time password which apparently I need a security code to bypass.
try to send the email to another email like a gmail even just create a new email to see if it can be received. If not the contact information is below to call, make sure your calling the number listed depending on the country your in. Also on tickets if you are not a subscriber you cannot create a new ticket. Any tickets you created before your sub ran out will still be there but you cannot create any more tickets unless you resubscribe.

If you are calling from a different country above or how to use skype to call for free, see the below link for contact numbers for other countries and more information on using Skype to make calls:
How can I swtich emails my account is attached to without logging on though?
I was trying to work out why my account didn't resubscribe automatically by logging on, but since I can't, I'm stuck in limbo.
I've tried the American number and it didn't work. I haven't tried Skype, but is free or a discounted rate? I don't have any Skype credit and I don't intend on getting any.
When you go to log into your account does it ask you to enter in an email or just sends it? Is there a link to change it to a different email or send to a different email.

some additional information for you or anyone else. I had to remove my security key today since my phone broke which sends me a one-time password to remove it. It went into my gmail account within a minute and was sorted into my Updates label / tab.
I looked at the details of this and see the following:
Sent From: no-reply@bioware.swtor.com
mailed-by: amazonses.com
I'm not sure if that's the mail server or system they use but wanted to point out to ensure you have not black listed the above email address / mail by or marked as junk or spam. Some email providers auto delete or block emails if you marked them as spam / junk in the past.
I was expecting it to be in the Updates Tab, it's where they all go. The email isn't blacklisted or marked for spam or junk. Even checked through my whole spam folder.
Some email providers auto-delete emails marked as spam or junk before they even arrive. I would try to add the above email address to your gmail safe / white list under Settings > Filters and Blocked Addresses. Click Create new Filter and then make sure it's never marked to spam.
I also did a quick google search and found a link to troubleshoot missing emails:
https://support.google.com/mail/troubleshooter/4530113?hl=en&ref_topic=3394915
May want to go through the whole thing which at the end asks that you post in the google support forums with the final link of the help and include several things. Maybe a google rep can look into it and find out what is going on or why it's not being received.
I also found another help article from google about not receiving mail from a specific sender:
In the end it may require the email admins to look into it. I use gmail too and was able to receive it but maybe Google can shine some light on the issue directly.
Please can everyone stop suggesting phoning because I'm not spending money on incompetence. And I can't switch my account to my g-mail since I can't log in because I need a one time code. And there is no point making a new account with my g-mail since I want to use my Hotmail account that I have spent money on.
For those with non gmail accounts that wish to try gmail to see if it gets your one time password. If your logging into the EA Answers HQ with your SW:TOR password and email go up to the top right and click your name and select EA Account. There edit the email associated with your account. This should propagate through all EA game accounts. Then go back to SW:TOR and attempt to log in again and see if the one time password comes to the new address.
If the email is leaving BW servers then there is nothing else they can do to resolve the issue. It's outside of their hands and I verified yesterday that it does send the email as I received it to my gmail.
There are multiple factors and different systems involved besides BW sending the email. If you do not wish to call that's understandable however since BW is sending emails out there is nothing that I can see they can do nor do I see any issues with them sending it out.
You can try the suggestion from the person above my post to see if what they do allows you to get access to change to a gmail, temporarily, so you can receive the one time-password.
If your using hotmail I would do the suggestion above and add the email they send from to your hotmail safe list to see if that makes the email come through. You can go to the hotmail forums here:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook_com/forum/oemail
Explain the issue and a Microsoft admin may be able to help or further look into it on their end. If your email ends in hotmail.com try to change the email as per the above person to outlook.com and see if it arrives that way. However either way ultimately it may be something that Microsoft will need to look into if nothing above works.
Went through all that, no email. I don't think Bioware is sending it at all. I've crawled up and down my gmail over and over again.

See this thread (Link) from a person from ukraine as an example
I would try the google help forums that I posted in a previous response. I verified that they do send them as I got two in my gmail account when I had to use it to remove an old security key. I even tested it today by repeating the process again and also got the email from them in a few seconds.
I would try to add the safe list to the email they send from, beyond use the google help to see if they can research it.
