I have tested both ways and there is no change.
Yesterday I tested to install the game with the original DVDs. The installation went well and I was able to launch the launcher but the launcher is too old and it cannot find the server.
I have also read that newer Intel processors have problems running DRM protected games. Is this the case with SWTOR?
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2021/11/faulty-drm-breaks-dozens-of-games-on-intels-alder-lake-cpus/
I have a 12700K and Bafrost a 12900K

i will flag this thread with CS and see if they have seen others similar

support said the issue with the new Intel processors is only affecting games with Denuvo protection , swtor isnt one of them.
maybe attach a dxdiag per https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Technical/Guide-Posting-a-DxDiag/m-p/4832663/highlight/true#M70799 see if crash reports shed anything further
Here is my Dxdiag
and the launcherdiag

have you got Advanced SystemCare installed ?
No I do not have. do i have to install it?
- proxos6664 years agoHero+
the dxdiag shows
P1 : launcher.exe_SWTOR Launcher P2 : 3.2.6.0 P3 : 528d292a P4 : dataexchange.dll
smart defrag program from iobit ?
- proxos6664 years agoHero+
did you try under a clean boot ? https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows-da2f9573-6eec-00ad-2f8a-a97a1807f3dd
have to go its 12:30 am here , will check back tomorrow
if cant work this out , one of the swtor analysts is back next week that can help further
yes i tried this morning. without success.
I will start over and try again
I would like to understand the link with smart defrag program from iobit (which I don't know)
What is smart defrag program from iobit? I have to install it? And below what's wrong?
P1: launcher.exe_SWTOR Launcher
P2: 3.2.6.0
P3: 528d292a
P4: dataexchange.dll
- I specify that the computer is freshly installed (Saturday)
- I just finished installing the game on another PC (not mine) and it was working. I then copy / paste the game directory to my computer. without success
- proxos6664 years agoHero+
dataexchange.dll
this is a windows 10 file for defrag , it was made by iobit so its built into the OS , i have never seen a crash using this dll since swtor started
I wonder if this is a windows update issue somehowedit make sure all optional updates are installed (except the win 11 one ...)
i have avast (antivirus) install.
is it possible that it is him.
I installed samsung Magician for the SSD also with functions linked to the hard drive
perhaps him??

wouldnt think so , the clean boot should remove these (can use taskmanager to be sure the processes are ended on boot up)
cant hurt to run a sfc /scannow in a command prompt as administrator
there was an indication of component store issue but doubt its related (likley a update issue)
Signature du problème : P1 : 10.0.19041.1310:1 P2 : wcp\componentstore\storelayout.cpp P3 : ComponentStore::CRawStoreLayout::HydrateFileUsingForwardAndReverseDeltas
anyways i have to go its near 1 am here , will check later today .... I have disabled everything. I even deleted Avast. No difference.
(Once I had an all black window appear and disappear)
I then did the sfc / scannow
No change.
I link the log
I've performed a clean boot, which didn't have any effect at all. It behaved just like before. I've also tried using the launcher from SWTOR (and also with the launcherrepair utility you linked) with the same effect.
Attaching the output from the launcher diagnostics, which was ran during a clean boot.
I installed the game on a laptop and everything is fine on it.
In Windows / system32, there is also the file "dataexchange.dll". I copied this version of the game to a portable hard drive.
The game runs on this hard drive and I can play it if I use the laptop.
However, if I run the game with my computer. I have the same problem.
I also tried to delete the dll file ... it doesn't change anything
I restarted the computer several times in clean mode. We have the same problem.
I found someone on Reddit with the same symptoms but there is no follow-up to their post.
Do you have another idea?

disable the intel video card , unless you need it enabled ?
You both run 3080s with 496.49 , there is a hotfix driver released https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5253
otherwise testing an older driver version like 472.12 is worth checking

Are you able to pull half the ram sticks and check and then swap to the other half and check again
you have a lot of application crashes listed
witcher3.exe
wrath.exe
destiny2.exe
kingdomcome.exe
msedge.exe
armorywebrowseredge.exe
asusfancontrolservice.exe
msinfo also has
HWiNFO64.EXE
7zFM.exeNewWorld.exe
NVIDIA Broadcast.exe
Cyberpunk2077.exe
AcPowerNotification.exe
etc etc The game "crashes" are probably due to me alt-f4'ing, have not had any CTD's after building this. The same goes for the asus/armory-services, which was uninstalled as it's mostly bloatware hah. One exception is a onetime BSOD after using a most likely incorrect driver for audio. That has been uninstalled since then. I'd guess this might account for the crashes that are visible?
Not at the PC right now, so not able to pull out ram sticks (and it's probably gonna be a hassle since it's a tight fit with the top mounted radiator. For what it's worth, the RAM has passed testing with memtest86.

i can just look at whats reported , all the crashes listed are between 6th - 10th November (below are only some date and times)

08/11/2021 20:12 Application Hang The program HWiNFO64.EXE
07/11/2021 14:03 Application Hang The program 7zFM.exe
I can see the bluescreen back on the 7th too
07/11/2021 12:53 Windows Error Reporting Fault bucket , type 0
Event Name: BlueScreennot one mention of swtor though
Well, yeah. In hindsight it is a bit misleading of me calling it a crash in the title. The launcher process exits (So it gracefully exits, but doesn't log or prompt the user in anyway to indicate "why".) with status code 2 as seen in procmon. This usually indicates a problem with permissions or access to resources, but it's up to the developer writing the specific system call.
Still not at my computer right now, but I can do another event capture with procmon and upload it here, if it's of any interest/use.

mioght be worth dropping the video driver back to 472.12 , seems 496.49 has some issues https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/forums/game-ready-drivers/13/472619/geforce-49649-grd-feedback-thread-released-102621/
changing drivers did nothing
I will format the C: and reinstall windows 10.
Right after, I will reinstall SWTOR.
-----------------
Question: Is it better to install SWTOR through Origin or Steam?
I have a SWTOR account since the game was released and have been using Origin until now.
----------------
I hope it's going to work
- proxos6664 years agoHero+
try this first you just lose updates https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.html
origin or steam or standalone , if you have steam you get steam achievements , steam updating is different too
I reinstalled windows10 on my formatted drive.
Here are the steps taken
No additional windows update installed Version 21H1 build 19043.1288.
Installing the drivers supplied with my motherboard
Google chrome / Firefox
Installing office2021
Nvidia 496.61 Drivers
Steam
SWTOR
Launch of the game > Same problem
: '(
I link an image to show you what is installed on the computer (not a lot of things)
and the new DXDIAG
