Re: Massive Lag Spikes

Thanks for replying, @proxos666

DXDiag: https://hastebin.com/sowekugoxo.tex

I was in fullscreen and will switch to windowed fullscreen to see if that helps. I've attached a pingplotter chart I took while playing. When I checked CPU usage, I didn't see any spikes while playing, but I'll pay more attention.

Can you highlight hop 1 as you did for hop 6

I gather this is wireless best to test at present with a wired connection at present

Unfortunately, keeping the computer wired is not feasible. I did run the long cord through the house though and still experienced the described lag.

Windowed fullscreen does not appear to fix the issue.

I'll try the new Catalyst drivers. Attaching a new ping plot I took tonight with the hop you requested highlighted as well as a ping plot to google for the same time period.

I cant see anything network wise that screams major issue, there is a bit of jitter present but that is likely wireless but again its not something that would appear to cause a major stop in the game

Those hops with packet loss are not causing any issues on the hops past them so I would discount them, packet loss at a hop is likely by rule at that hop , means it is under load but its not causing issues upstream

Advise if the new catalyst driver does anything

from here try deleting the games cache file found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Electronic Arts\BioWare\Star Wars-The Old Republic\swtor

just delete the file called diskcachearena , it will recreate at the next launch

Still seeing the issue after catalyst driver update. I'll try deleting cache.

I did not experience the issue at all the first day when it was downloading the additional files in the background.

See if the cache makes any difference, also ensure both launcher.exe and swtor.exe are in the exception lists for the firewall and antivirus

I gather you have turned these off and as much as possible any other program running in the background just in case one is interfering ?

another thing to check for a 5 -20 minute halt cycle is heat , so check temps of the CPU etc just to be sure

Thanks for all the help. I think I finally discovered the issue thanks to your comment about the firewall. Essentially, my computer keeps switching to the 5Ghz wireless which it had registered as a public network and SWTOR wasn't marked as excluded from the firewall on public networks.Marking the network as private seems to have cleared up the issue.
