Re: Stuck On Loading Screen

I subscribed 10/21/2024 from swtor dot com.

I haven't purchased a subscription from Steam. I haven't had to dispute a transaction subscribing to the game.

If I get to the server select screen, I am able to select the servers that I play on and see how many characters I have on each server. I clicked on each server to login to the server, I wait 15-20 seconds, then I get a connection error.

I have pressed the print screen to take a screenshot  of the "connection errors", but I don't know where they go to or if the screenshot succeeded. I don't have swtor in the documents folder where the screenshots go.

connection errors can also occur when a net issue is happening, where that issue lays is generally indicated by the number of people affected

If you get lots of posts then its likely a server issue or a region, if there is only one or two people then it can be defined down to a particular ISP

this is why it is important to test that computer on another internet connection, this will verify it isnt an issue with that computer if the game works ok on another connection

Edit a VPN may help if the issue is net related

The post at this link has the common server error screenshot in the first post , in that case it was a server ban, but the same message can occur with communication issues

That's not the server error I got. The error I got said "A connection error has occurred, if this problem persists, please visit www.swtor.com/support to contact our Customer Service Team". The error I got showed up after attempting to login to the server. I found the picture online, but that is the error I am getting.

Tethering is not set up with our mobile phone provider.

That error can be caused by the antivirus/firewall blocking and also a net issue , restarting router/modem is also worthwhile as it may just be a range of IP addresses

    VPN could be a workaround

    Example thread - https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Technical/Can-t-connect-to-any-servers/m-p/13347291/highlight/true#M106596
even in this old thread standard troubleshooting as in that case support had no issue logging into that account from elsewhere with that error

Most iphones for example you can use personel hotspot for example, same for android,  you just need to ensure the mobile is not using the home wifi when testing

The security software/firewall are not the issue. I have enabled launcher.exe and swtor.exe for the firewall and the security software. I have restarted the router for 5 minutes, but nothing changes. I cleared the dns cache and renewed the ip address a few mins ago, but nothing changed. Tethering on the mobile network isn't set up for our mobile phone provider.

I installed SWTOR from steam, but the loading screen still gets stuck. I see the little wheel on the bottom right spinning. I have waited 3-10 minutes at times to see if the game gets past the loading screen. If I get to the server select screen, I click on the Star Forge server, the server attempts to login, then after 15-25 seconds I get "A connection error has occurred" error.

I have verified the files after installation.

I have changed to screen resolution (%localappdata%\swtor\swtor\settings)

I exit Steam, the relaunch Steam, click play, login, press play, stuck loading screen.

I don't have SWTOR installed on other computers.

I'm not able to tether from the mobile phone data because the mobile phone account is not set up for tethering.

I have done all that I can to play the game, nothing fixes the game to where I can play.

I get tired of reading the forums for a solution.

I started playing SWTOR again 11/2023, but I haven't had any issues playing game until 5 days ago.

I got a reply back from customer support, they are not able to do anything else for me at this point. I have done a internet speed test: 24MHz per second. That is the speed we are set up for.

I want to play the game, but I'm having an issue that I don't know how to fix. A lot of people in the forums were having the same problem I'm having.Patch 7.4 gave people stuck loading screen issues.

Swtor Support did confirm that your accounts can be access ok over the internet from their location

To narrow down if it is related to that computer , or your home internet, take that computer to a friends house connect to their wifi and see if you can login ok

edit: can you also provide a dxdiag per https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Technical/Guide-Posting-a-DxDiag/m-p/4832663/highlight/true#M70799 to get an idea of that system

can you try loading the game and test with the integrated card and the performance card seperately, as you do have 2 video cards on that system , this is just in case the issue is the integrated card

I enabled the AMD SmartShift Eco from the AMD Adrenaline control panel which uses the integrated graphics while laptop is unplugged. The loading screen still gets stuck. Usually when I press play, I see the loading screen for 5 seconds, then I select the character I want to play. I haven't been able to play for 5 days. I don't know if something is blocking the game from playing. I don't have internet issues. 25MHz is what we have set up from the ISP. We can upgrade to 50MHz if we want. I want to get a WIFI booster to see if a booster can speed loading times.

The reason why I'm not able to connect to the SWTOR servers is because the ISP we use shut their business down 10/28/2024.  We are getting Frontier Internet installed Saturday 11/16. I can play SWTOR again. 🙂
