SWTOR Bad latency during prime time Red Eclipse Europe (Telia)

Greetings all,

I didn't want to bother with this before but I returned to SWTOR to see that Telia issues during prime time in Europe, Red Eclipse server, aren't fixed yet (especially during weekends, in other time servers are half-empty so no latency issues).

2013 I switched my apartments, before that my internet provider I was tunneled thru Telia to SWTOR servers, it was bad from time to time, but not as bad as nowdays. In Octobre 2016 I left SWTOR, because I came back to my old apartment and saw there is still lot of problems with Telia, I wasn't the only one, other people on server from different countries who been tunneling thru Telia had similar issues for years now. I left but now I resubscribed (even with doubts). During the day it is ok, but during prime time, especially weekends when there is normal population on servers, because nowdays servers are half empty, latency going from 100-400, and usual latency was 50-90.

I will post all tracert logs at the bottom, I did logs yesterday and before you tell me to contact my internet provider, or check my firewall, or open ports, lets analyse something.

I did several IP tracert for swtor servers, official IP that was given long time on forums and IPs I got from internet monitor on my computer when I was connected to swtor ingame direct IP of servers(farm) I was connected to.

SWTOR server was around 100-400. Then I logged into WoW, who is also routing thru Telia, and there was latency 30-50, so I did a tracert.

SWTOR and WOW Telia routing logs, showed that I was tunneling thru some same servers, I did WOW tracert only twice.

SWTOR:

WOW:

13 ms 13 ms 12 ms bpt-b4-link.telia.net [213.248.82.157]

Could you please contact SWTOR support or anyone who may be doing networking job at Austin and ask them if they could see with Telia to fix this problem already, this is old problem, there was a thread years back on swtor forums, where one CM actually replied and they contacted Telia for those problems, from replies I read, back then, problem should be solved, sadly at that time I was in my new apartment and I was routed thru Level3, wich was mostly good, expect for Dublin wich knew to make problems from time to time.

My logs for SWTOR from yesterday :

Just in case, computer spec:

Intel i5 4690k 4.6GHz

MSI Gaming 5

16GB DDR3 HyperX Savage 2400Hz

AMD XFX 480 8GB 1400/2200

2 x SSD Samsung EVO 850 256GB

1TB WD Green 7200rpm

Seasonic Power Supply 760W Gold

Asus MX279H

Kaspersky Internet Security 2017 (all rules set up, SWTOR is totally white listed from AV to firewall)

This isn't my SWTOR account, but this is my main Origin account so I posted with it, I'm preorder CE and CE owner... if its needed I will post with my SWTOR account as well (sadly couldn't merge them after SWTOR was released☹️ ).

    This is likely not the answer your looking for but you are best talking to your ISP

    Why I say this is due to the below

    7 4 ms 4 ms 4 ms 212.200.7.77
    8 13 ms 13 ms 12 ms bpt-b4-link.telia.net [213.248.82.157]

    6 4 ms 4 ms 4 ms 212.200.7.77
    7 106 ms 105 ms 105 ms bpt-b4-link.telia.net [213.248.82.157]

    The 212.200 subnets belong to your ISP and this is occurring at your ISPs border with Telia, unsure if MPLS and return path is part of what you are seeing but the ISP will know.

    If these where done at different times this can also be an indication of insufficient bandwidth belonging to the ISP into Telia, this would be prevalent more so during peak times and the ping will lower outside peak hours.

    Best suggestion I can recommend is try a free trial of a VPN like www.wtfast.com and see what impact it has to what you are seeing.

    Here in Australia our minimum ping is around 200ms and can play no issues.

    @proxos666

    Thank you for your answer.

    All tracert logs are done at the same time, if I did them at different time then it wouldn't matter much.

    I first thought it's ISP problem, but because of that I did tracert for wow servers at the same time when I was doing swtor. SWTOR was always high latency, while WoW thru same server low latency, it more looks to me Blizz is premium Telia while EA is normal member.

    Also I would like to note, this happens only when there is more people on server, like when there is 200-250+ players on the fleet, wich is rare nowdays but it happens. When I'm having high latency people from EU also routing thru Telia having the same problems. Sadly SWTOR support forum doesn't exist anymore but there was couple of big threads telling about problems with Telia & EU and high latency since launch of the game.

    @halabit

    I certainly hear telia issues from time to time, let me know if the 14 day trial of the VPN has any effect on what your seeing.

    Have a read about MPLS that could also explain the ping difference at 213.248.82.157 across the 2 different paths after 213.248.82.157 or the return path is the cause but we cant see that, and I tend to think that could be the issue here.

    it also comes back to your only option apart from changing ISPs is try a VPN

    @proxos666

    Not at home atm but will check it out next time when I get high latency. I agree with you that may be the case but sadly from my swtor expirience I'm not the only one.

    Thank you for suggesting a VPN solution but I am not gonna do it, it's enough to play f2p game for wich you need to sub up to play endgame and have most of the stuff in cash shop.

    Gonna make an ingame ticket as well, won't matter probably but somebody may take a look.
