Give this intel driver a go and see if it helps on the loading back into the game.
now about your initial issue of the crash on onderon , it is likely you may need to play that cutscene on another computer or get swtor cs to move you forward, this is due to the laptop having only an intel 5500 card and it does not meet the minimum game requirements fully due to utilizing shared memory as opposed to dedicated vram
So, i did try it. When I try to install it just flashes an error that it's not compatible, and I do know why - I have a lenovo, and I can only get drivers for this integrated graphic card from them - and they didn't put up any updates for 2 years (i had an amd driver until now, but it broke, so I got stuck with Intel), graphics in-game weren't too happy with that but it always worked without a hitch, even tho theoretically the driver isn't perfect for the game.
do you think there could be anything else that could be causing my inability to get in the game? (as the drivers won't be up to date no matter what i do, besides getting a new computer)

You can update to the latest intel driver with the directions at this link from the lenova website or also following this link
you can also try editing the client_setting file per this guide link to set to window mode for launch
