I am not sure what is going on here, normally there is some indication of an error , the only place that was showing any sort of error was the swtor_swtor file but with bitraider disabled it isnt applicable anymore.
I have gone down several pathways of possibilities so far, given there is no further indication of any error even under a clean boot makes it hard to pinpoint.
It also isn't normal for swtor.exe not to appear in task manager when clicking play even if for only a few seconds.
anyways if you have checked the optional windows updates
maybe also try installing all the latest C++ files all the latest ones are listed at this link
Try creating a new windows administrator profile as a test and then try and launch the game in that profile, no chnage simply delete this new windows account.
Sorry have to go again its 11:22pm here, wish I had a simple answer for this for you.

Thank you for the help anyway, still no luck starting it but swtor.exe now pops up in the task manager for 3 seconds or so then disappears

Different line of thought
Your monitor is it the model with DVI-D or the one with 2 HDMI connectors ?
Do you use any adapters on this monitor to connect ?

OK running with 2 trains of thought , 1 would not leave any windows errors , other may or may not
does your monitor have the VGA and DVI connection or 2 x HDMI connectors ?
having a think how best to test moving forward

VGA and DVI one, no windows arrors

Just thinking back to errors that appeared in the bitraider log , I gather the router/modem has been restarted since you have been back ?
Given SWTOR is a mmo one of the first things it does is set a token on launch to use as access to the server, if this fails the game may simply terminate.
If this was local caused 9 time out of 10 the clean boot should bypass the cause, however if there was a firewall block on the modem or ISP side it can still appear.
This sort of issue would be extremely rare most cases the game would still load but or wont get past the launcher as it will fail patching.
2nd thought is swtor is one of the few games that reads the EDID of the monitor directly and this can be problematic if wrong , however most issues arise from using an adapter and it would be unusual to be fine then not , so based on that it isnt likely along this path.
there isnt much more to try

There is a Windows 7 refresh (Link) just in case it is an underlayng issue with the OS nothing should be lost doing this , but it is best to make a Win 7 with SP1 disk to use for the steps, saves a bit of windows updating from this link but given there is no windows error recorded makes it difficult to know if worthwhile, cant lose anything but time though.
essentially refreshes windows like how they currently upgrade from WIn 7 to Win 10 but you remain on Win 7 in this case.

ok but seriously any idea?

Could be millions of reasons for this error
ensure the game shortcut is running as administrator, and both launcher.exe and swtor.exe are in all the exception lists
Cant recall are you using non streaming at present if so take the system to a clean boot (link) and see if it persists
Last resort
Right click on the computer icon
go to properties and advanced system settings and then under the advanced tab go to system properties.
on the advanced tab under performance, click settings then go to the data execution prevention tab and add both launcher.exe and swtor.exe to that exception list.
