Unable to purchase subscription due to error with EA account

Hello there,
I'm trying to purchase a subscription (more specifically the Join The Fight bundle) for my account, but every time I try to purchase anything via the store on the website I get this error message: "There is an issue with your Electronic Arts account which will prevent SWTOR purchases until resolved. Please contact customer support (https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic/swtor-support) for further assistance."

I have googled this error and come across multiple posts on the forums but none of the solutions posted there have worked for me.
So far I have tried:
-Resetting the password on the EA account under the same email as my SWTOR account
-Resetting the password on my SWTOR account
-Adding a preferred payment method to my EA account (I couldn't find the option to do so for my SWTOR account)
-Logging in to my SWTOR account on an incognito browser to try the purchase.

So far trying all of these solutions have left me with the same error still. I've emailed the swtor support email but wanted to post here for possible answers as well.
I don't want to purchase the subscription via the Steam store because I've seen many complaints from others not receiving their subscription but still being charged there.

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated, thank you 🙂

  • @JustRedge- I had the same issue today and it turned out that my EA APP/launcher password did NOT match my SWtOR password even tough I did reset my password yesterday at the EA's page.
    My password was apparently set for SWtOR and EA web page only but NOT for the EA's app/launcher.
    After setting up the same password for the EA App/launcher - everything seems to be working.

    @proxos666- and yet - when I synchronized both passwords - the error I had since I changed password as described above:

    "(...) There is an issue with your Electronic Arts account which will prevent SWTOR purchases until resolved. Please contact customer support (https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/star-wars/star-wars-the-old-republic/swtor-support) for further assistance. (...)"

    disappeared miraculously 😉

    Ergo: from my experience - synchronizing both accounts in email/password departments worked.

    @Esceven

    that error usually indicates the linked ea account is disabled and requires a password change

    @proxos666- and yet - it was just EA's app/launcher password that needed to be changed.
    My EA and SWtOR accounts (and passwords) were exactly the same and operational. What is more - I purchased some unimportant game via EA to test if there was a problem with the payment system or some kind of "disabled" account as you write - but nope. The purchase from under the EA went smoothly.

    The above mentioned synchro of emails and passwords between EA/SWtOR accounts and EA launcher was sufficient to solve the issue.
    Yes, even though I changed my password at EA's web page a day before I still had to use an old password to get into the EA APP/launcher.
    I did not touch my EA password today.
    Hence the answer.

    @Esceven

    sounds like the ea app launcher account is the linked ea account , and is a different ea account would explain why you still needed to use a different password to login

    the email belonging to the linked ea account can be found on the transaction history page in your swtor account
