Why does SWTOR.com allow me to add an EA Game Card to my SWTOR account

Purchased 2 EA Game Cards as the SWTOR website directs you to add them as a payment method while selecting your subscription.Screenshot of Subscription page

How and why would you make this available as an option if there are no means of utilizing said EA Game Cards towards anything productive on the site? Please direct me to a place or website where this makes any reasonable amount of sense. I've been playing this game for 11 years. There's no reason to have the option to load an EA Game Card if it doesn't let you load the EA Game Card, now I have 25 dollars sitting on a website that claims these funds will be useable towards my subscription or the purchase of Cartel Coins and the continued investment of my time and resources into the game--coming from an EA Game Card that is now nonrefundable since having scratched off the back to enter the code. That being said I presume the SWTOR website wouldn't want its players to be misled into thinking a link title Load an EA Game Card does nothing and is a feature that was simply not removed due to an egregious oversight. So my question is, did a whole team of devs and game testers forget to remove this link from the website, or am I simply misunderstanding how to properly use my EA Game Card towards my SWTOR subscription? Thank you for your time.

Support said you can use the EA wallet to buy cartel coins or 60 days non recurring sub, If you try to buy recurring sub you won't have the option to use that payment method
