Exactly. From any point of view a hero is the good one, regardless of what he is from another perspective. So it is what it is: an evil hero is a contradiction in terms.
You could argue that is is an oxymoron and only seemingly contradicting ;-)
Pretty sure Vader was not regarded as the nice guy next door, yet he was an imperial hero.
One can play games with language all day long. If you look up what Heros means in ancient Greek culture and what Hero means since the late middle age/early Enlightenment era you find that in Christian societies a Hero is good and cannot be evil or dark.
But then again: one can always play games with language and especially English is a very fluid language in terms of vocabulary, semantics and even syntax.
