I agree with you on all points, I thought it was a well planned event that made you work for some toons that you may not have focused on at all. It gave Phoenix Squadron a purpose and you got a character with a great kit in Thrawn that pretty much anyone could unlock before the event ended.
They also did what they needed to do on the business side of things. If you wanted to get a 7* Thrawn (for Heroic Pit & Tank), you must likely needed to spend some cash for crystals or even the pack that was offered. Dev's that don't get paid take their work elsewhere.
Capital Games, thank you for the event and I hope this is the beginning of new and exciting things to come for SWGOH!

They been getting paid on every other regularly released toon. Scratch that. EA/CG have been getting paid for those toons. Devs receive a salary.
Thrawn needing money to 7* changed the rules for legendary toons. Now legendary characters will be paywalled.
What? Most f2p didnt get yoda or palp above 5* the first time around, many didnt get them at all.
Edit: and we got stuck with garbage Eeth Koth :P
f2p that had been playing since launch and had chosen to farm rebels got EP at 7*. It's one thing to choose not to farm characters. It's another to have a legendary toon require newly farmable toons. They monetized legendary characters and people are praising them for it.
Never mind the daily counter bug that has nearly 30 pages of requests to be fixed with not even an acknowledgement. Never mind no new real content since ships on November 23. Never mind the complete blackout on communication since the leak. Never mind it took them a day and a half to nerf nutinni because it trivialized an 8-month old raid.
Just be happy that you were forced to farm/gear/level garbage toons.
