Well I started farming Phoenix from day 1 they became F2P. Zeb, Chopper and Kanan were no issue for me to 7* since I had enough currency saved for all 3 stores. I used the double drops and fleet store to get Hera and Ezra to 5* pretty quickly. After seeing Thrawn gameplay from EA Play I decided to push for 6* and refreshed cantina 3x a day. At that point I had a decision to make, refresh cantina 5x a day to get Hera and Ezra to 7* or save my crystals and get Thrawn to 7* the next time the event comes back around. Since Thrawn is arena viable at lower stars I decided to stick with 6* and save my resources.
Pretty much the exact same for me. I had enough currency saved that I could have used the shard shop to supplement Hera/Ezra drops, but it would have taken just about everything I had, and would have left me with very little time to try and beat tier 7 with no more than G8 characters. I opted to stop at 6* and save my currency.
