A problem ignored for a whole decade: Arenas and awards time.

The concept of the Regular Arena and Fleet Arena has been a thorn in the side of many players for 10 years. To truly give players more free time in the game, there was no need to remove such a wonderful game mode as Galactic Challenges. Players waste at least two hours every single day on these outdated, boring game modes. Regular Arenas. They should have been removed or reworked long ago. The very concept of having to start bombing the damned arena at a specific time an hour before the rewards has long since outlived its usefulness and has simply turned into a daily routine that players have grown tired of over the past 10 years.

You can't imagine what a gift it would be for players if you found a way to remove this routine from the game forever. So that people could log in whenever they want, and not when the alarm goes off that — it's time to grind the Arena looser if you don't want to screw up and get meager rewards.

I beg you, CG. It's really time. 10 years have passed. It's time to get rid of these annoying, debilitating, outdated gamemodes once and for all.

  • As the first 2 responses, you're certainly not defending my feelings on the Arenas.  I doubt you're defending many that have been playing the game for a long time or are knowledgeable about the game.  I believe that is important as new players opinions will change over time and experience.

A thorn in the side?  hmmmmm  Firstly, Arena and Fleet Arena are 2 very different things now.

Arena changed in importance when Grand Arena arrived and when the crystals were removed.  What is Arena now?  For me, I do one battle there for my daily rewards.  I may......use it as a sandbox mode for GAC if there's a team with a datacron that matches what I'm facing in GAC.  However, that's very rare.  It's not a thorn in anybody's side as it's quite irrelevant.  No good players that are short of time put any importance or time into Squad Arena.  Believing they do, shows ignorance.

Is Fleet Arena a thorn in the side?  I will concede at times it can be stressful, in that you may not have time to move up in the small window you are given.  Also, when the meta is difficult (thankfully not for a long time) it can be a right thorn in the bum-bum, that's for sure.  It also is unfair for a minority of players that are playing with absolute evil gits.  However, the vast majority of established players, that know how to play the game........................wouldn't want changes here.  I've moved to a small guild from my past, and it's the number one thing I'm drilling into them; invest in your meta fleet and invest time into Fleet Arena.  Once newer players learn this, they'll be in a much better place.

I doubt many players that play the game well would request changes to either Arena.  Could they be better, yes.  Are they 'a thorn in the side', I don't believe so for most people.

I absolutely despised Galatic Challenges.  I'll readily admit that I might be in the minority here though.  For me the 'challenge' part was an 'annoyance'.  "Galatic Annoyance" would be more accurate......for me.  I really don't understand how GC was released without some sort of feat counter; some feats you had no idea if you were even doing the right thing.  At least with Conquest, you can check the feat counter afterwards.  With GC you could mis-understand what you had to do, or CG could mis-code it and you'd have no idea.  Potentially, you could spend hours wasting your time.  I could never get my head around not having a feat counter; it felt like it was released unfinished.

The 'Challenge' part for me was 'a thorn in my side'.  I'd give what I thought I had to do one go, if it didn't work I'd just wait for the "Hello, my holotable heroes" YouTube video.*   I had very little interest in reading all the information, thinking about a squad that'll work and trying it.  That's me though, I'm sure many  loved doing it.

I did kinda look forward to GCs starting at times (something new to do), but for me you certainly don't speak for me in that they are missed.

I very much doubt this is the case for most players.  Firstly, if players are wasting time on Squad Arena, that's by choice.  There's no reason to do this.  They either have the time to waste or don't know what they're doing.  Secondly,  you may be semi-engaged with Fleet Arena for up to 2 hours, but you're not actively wasting time for 2 hours.  For me, it's zero time on Squad Arena and maybe 15 minutes on ships (I ALWAYS go second in Leviathan mirror matches 200% of the time).  With a fair RNG it'd be 4 minutes?  Again, I really don't believe you're speaking for most 'players'.

I certainly can't disagree with this, they are boring and outdated.  However, there are things most of us want CG to touch and things we don't want CG to touch.  If Mr CG came sniffing around my Ship Arena, I'd gladly point him in the direction of TW.  "Go and ruin that even more instead!!"

Removed, strongly disagree.  Reworked, I don't want to see it, but maybe there's a case for that.  High on the priority list?  So low Arenas are in one of those deep trench thingys in the ocean, totally out of sight.

No no no.  I can't speak for the 'players', but neither can you.  However, before you make suggestions like this, I feel you should have a very good understanding of the game modes and the overall environment.  I strongly feel that .....you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about with this sentence.  It'll be a gift to me if CG leaves Ship Arena the **** alone for the next 10 years, especially the rewards.

Well, you don't have to remove the game modes to achieve this goal, right?  I think this idea definitely has scope.  If you're spending the evening at your grans and she's not impressed with you taking that 'dang-fangled what-nob' out of your pocket every 7 minutes, it would definitely be better if you could pick a quiet time (for you and your shard) to do your climb.

As for 'the alarm going off', possibly you have picked (or been forced to pick) a really poor time to do your climb?  If forced to.....my commiserations.  But again, you're not speaking for the majority.

Personally, from experience I wouldn't want CG touching Arenas.  My confidence in the company doing the right thing/things correctly is at an all time low.  I very much think that neither need to be touched; I can't feel anything prickly digging into my love handles!  I think some of your minor points (timing) have merit though.  For most of what you wrote however, I strongly feel you are not speaking 'for the players' and have a strong, aggressive minority opinion that isn't echoed by many that understand the game well.

*Tongue and cheek poke at BitDynasty.  I'm an absolute massive fan of his.

  • There’s a tremendous amount of things the OP is saying on my behalf I don’t agree with. Or maybe they’re just projecting what they think as what everyone thinks.

Nobody bothers with one of the two arenas anymore. The other one provides crystal income. I can login whenever I want for other aspects of the game.

  • And where would the Crystal Revenue come from then?  That's literally the only reason these modes exist
