Adjust the older Mercenary toons to have a chance with the new tag.
Note: none of these changes actually changes the kits function, they simply create accessibility to these functions in Merc teams.
I like theory crafting in this game, because of that the Mercenary faction is extremely interesting to me. It has a chance to lift a ton of older toons to relevance again.
CG in their typical manner is trying to push certain toons on players for new teams. For example, in the case with the mercenary faction, the retroactively changed the ability descriptions for Qira and Hondo Ohnaka, and no other toons. 27 toons have been made Mercenary retroactively, and they only touched 2 of them. Granted, changing all of them would create to many new problems. For this purpose, I am making a list. This will be as balanced as possible.
Toons changed: Vandor Chewbacca, Dengar, Zam Wessel, L3-37, Young Han Solo, Canderous Ordo, Doctor Aphra*
Changes:
- Vandor Chewbacca
- Ferocious Protector
- At the end of each turn while chewbacca is buffed, he recovers protection equal to 10% of his max health, other scoundrel allies and prepared allies recover half that amount. Revive mechanic stays the same only triggering on LS Scoundrels.
- Ferocious Protector
- Dengar
- Target Spotted
- If the target is suffering from any debuffs there is a 60% chance to call an ally to assist. If they assisting ally is scoundrel or Mercenary, this attack is guaranteed to be a critical hit.
- Target Spotted
- Zam Wessel
- Detonating Shot
- Changed Scoundrel to Scoundrel or Mercenary.
- Shapeshifter
- At the start of the battle.... Scoundrel Attacker, Scoundrel Support or Healer, Scoundrel Tank...
- Add text: These bonuses are halved for Mercenary allies of these roles.
- Bounty Hunter Omicron has no changes.
- Detonating Shot
- L3-37
- Spark of Hope
- Changed Scoundrel and Droid to Scoundrel, Droid, or Mercenary.
- Changed Scoundrel and Droid to Scoundrel, Droid, or Mercenary.
- Spark of Hope
- Young Han Solo
- Ready for anything
- While prepared, Han has a 70% chance to assist another scoundrel or prepared allies attack during their turn.
- Ready for anything
- Canderous Ordo
- Mandalorian Veteran
- Gains 10% Health Steal and Potency for each Old Republic, Mandalorian, Scoundrel, and Mercenary Ally.
- Mandalorian Veteran
- Doctor Aphra
- Caveat: If Baylan and his trio begin to be used as purely a UFU team, and not a Mercenary Team using Malicos and his passive, allow the following change to Aphra kit to force a choice between the two. Using one invalidates the other's kit.
- Dangerous Tech
- At the start of the battle, if there an no GL allies, and all allies are Dark Side Scoundrel, DS Droid, DS Mercenary, Krrsantan, or Darth Vader, summon a hacked commando droid.
- Commando Droid doesn't need additional tags. He will scale off of Aphra her SoF stacks and her siphon. He will call other allies to assist which grant them SoF stacks.
Reasoning:
- Vandor and L3 encourages the use of Young Han or Lando who can give out Prepared to allies including Baylan and his duo. With these toons, this will give additional survivability with regen. I did not include the revives or the TM gain, as this team already has insane regen and revives.
- Dengar is an option to get assists for SoF stacks.
- Zam Wessel, I don't know she needs it. I wouldn't put her in a Merc team, but if you do you shouldn't be punished more than normal.
- Young Han Solo, allows him to give prepared to allies one at a time, and build SoF stacks via assisting. Shin doesn't have to be made prepared as she is already a scoundrel, and the 5th can be a scoundrel. Meaning give Baylan and Marrok prepared, and let Han assist most turns.
- Candeous Ordo is one of the best (earlygame) options for TM gain via debuffs. BFSOJ is much better yes, but I see Canderous also as a good option. Don't punish him for being in a team where he fits.
- Doctor Aphra. In the theorycraft for this team I have seen malicos discussed alot. He isn't a merc, he doesn't contribute to SoF stacks, he is just good. Visa gives health up, and Baylan's lead makes this give CD and protection. I dislike this as an option as this makes the mercenary tag kinda useless, and also makes Cere useless except in TW. Doctor Aphra as an option destroys the UFU team due to Malicos passive requiring all UFU teammates. You then also jack up Shin's offense further via Aphra passive, and add an additional source of assists, and offense from Commando droid.
All I changed in this was the wording to include factions or prepared enemies. I'm using prepared as a stopgap to extremely fast ramp up speeds for damage based on SoF gain. Speaking of I wonder how good Young Lando and Dash would be as 4th and 5th. Make all allies prepared, and call up to 3 allies to assist at a time. Hmmmm.
