The last hour, heck the last 20 mins are where you spend the most (per min).
2 things to keep in mind, start time matters. It's a gamble like everything else. A later start can land you in a new grouping or at the bottom of the last one opened. But an early start only lands you in a group that will be pushing the numbers higher for longer. I wouldn't be surprised if the tournaments get shorter again, 24 hours seems nice but 8-12 would yield the same results. The longer ones were to make sure people burned the AC before they came down to the length they want.
Second, never make your push that early. Examine the playing field and make the call if you are going to commit. Use all you b,c,and d teams to get the best rank you can. Then b and a and mix in a cheap placeholder where you can, and burn through all or your committed amount in the last 3 hours, but spread them out. You will be disappointed if you blow your wad and everyone passes you anyway. Gotta save for the last 20 mins. And plan to drop about 20 places.
