- M0st1yHarm1ess2 years agoSeasoned AceYeah, I was like "you don't have to keep shooting at the tiny little figure. Just hit the ship and she will be killed too." If "it would probably be a lot easier to hit the powerless ship than the Jedi blocking and hopping around" wasn't obvious in the beginning, you'd think they would have got the idea after the first pass.
The scene where they hid in the red forest was also highly dubious to me. They would still have a heat signature easily detectable, having just turned the engine off. - xGriiMErZz2 years agoSeasoned AceSloooooow wallllllkkkkkinnnnnnnmmmggg
- Screerider2 years agoSeasoned AceOdd Ahsoka didn't just Force Pull herself back to the ship and had to have Sabine rotate the ship.
- After that scene with the Eye of Sion I think Leviathan has some competition for most underwhelming debut. But maybe it does better on offense.

- LordDirt2 years agoSeasoned AceSo during Episodes 4-6 what was Ashoka doing and now during the Ashoka show what is Luke doing? Seems funny how Luke isn’t helping find Ezra and stopping Thrawn’s return or the two turned Jedi or the Inquisitor or the Nightsister.

in episode #1, when hera told ashoka there's someone who could help her, i 100% expected that to mean luke and that we'd get some kind of excuse why he would not get involved when 2 jedi show up. alas, they could not even be bothered with that. :("Stormbringer;c-2436912" wrote:

here's the thing: while there are some people who try to find fault in everthing and enjoy complaining, most people are not like that. but sometimes, problems are just hard (or even impossible) to ignore. most of the time, we are absorbed with watching something we enjoy, so we don't notice any small flaws. but sometimes they just jump out at you. i would love to enjoy this show. i liked the trailers and was really looking forward to it. rebels is some of my favorite star wars stuff ever. but this is just bad. at least, for me.
if you enjoy it, amazing! i'm happy for you. but i'd prefer being happy for me as well. ;)
on the quite obvious retcon on force use: i get where they are coming form politically and i think you could make a good argument for this change. the force being literally a race (or species) thing, being a measurable quantity and hereditary has a bad ring of "übermenschentum" to it. which is bad, in case you are wondering.
the problem with a change on this issue: it's not just a retcon. it changes how the whole universe works (and always has worked). if the force was just "hard work", the universe would be completely different. i am not certain they thought this through. - That they have not thought through a few of the things on this show is my general impression. Quite a few things are there because I presume someone thought they were cool.
Phantom rolling over the enemy ship so Chopper could throw (!) the tag on it.
Ahsoka walking on her ship to defend it while it's a sitting duck.
The fighters behaving like they are in a dog fight inside a planet's atmosphere (as opposed to 3D space).
Mon Mothma & Co totally not taking the potential threat of an Imperial plot to bring Thrawn back seriously (even if they don't believe in it, that's quite a risk to take). Admittedly, Hera did a lousy job trying to convince them.
A major New Republic shipyard without any defensive forces in space.
The New Republic fleet which is so small it cannot spare even one ore two ships to give to Hera. Given the territory they control, they should have multiple fleets of ships. (Although perhaps they really have only just one small fleet which would explain the defense less shipyard).
Fighters with weapons so feeble they cannot destroy one ship.
Dito turbo lasers. If only the Republic had sent just 1 cruiser, the Eye of Sion would have been toast.
And one of my biggest bug-bears:
The assumption that all viewers know the characters already, so there is no need for a proper set-up.
One example:
Thrawn as the big villain does not work unless you know who he is already. According to Hera, he isn't your normal Imperial officer because he killed some of her friends. So what? Everyone killed someone's friends. That's not why I the viewer should feel dread at the thought of his return. Especially since he was beaten before.
I can forgive a lot but there is just so much wrong with the story telling of this show, it makes me sad. And a lot of it could have been fixed with a few simple changes.
Dave Filoni wrote all of the episodes. That does not give me hope for any improvement. - Screerider2 years agoSeasoned AceAhsoka's gonna be chasing after Thrawn in modern Times Square, with cars honking at them, isn't she?
- MasterSeedy2 years agoSeasoned AceI like a lot of @CaiaAquilea 's analysis.
One place where I differ isn't about CA. being wrong, but just about me being used to something in SW. There are so many times when attackers would be better off attacking something other than the Jedi wielding lightsabers that are gonna deflect their attacks anyway. In this case, it's Ashoka's ship or its engines, but the situation is just so common that I have grown tired of resisting the trope.
As far as I'm concerned, there's a law of the SW galaxy that is as inexorable as gravity that forces people to shoot at lightsabers. Doesn't matter if it's going to be easier to do what you want by targeting something else, the enemy just shoots at lightsabers every time. It's wrong and it's silly and the first 999 times you see you want to scream your lungs out, but eventually you've seen it a thousand times and you just give up.
SW enemies are always going to do that. It is what it is.
