The whole point of the game is to level up your characters so if you class it as garbage then you're playing it wrong.
I find it's best to farm lum and sid as they are easy to get and really help in a team then you just have to pray to rng to get lucky.
Although I normally find Kylo isn't that bad a drop I've managed to farm to 4*
