Grand arena match making

Why do I keep coming up against people with like 5GL’S when I don’t even own one ? Don’t get me wrong I’m no noob I have a decent roster but come on give a guy a break sometimes why doesn’t it match you players at the same GP as you ????

  • You're matched vs the 7 nearest players to you on Skill Points.  GP and GLs are not taken into consideration.

    1. GP has limited relevance to what is a fair match up.
    2. If you matched by GP, it would affect how we played every aspect of the game.  Would you farm a new character that the guild needed or for conquest, or just not get them at all?
    3.  It would be unfair on the players that have been making their rosters bigger in the knowledge there are no GP constraints outside of TW (which doesn't really matter)  compared to those that come along afterwards.
    4.  If I have a sub 2 million GP roster, and GP match-making came into effect, why continue?  I really should start again and become efficient.
    5.  You would get players 'min-maxing'.  I could make a 4 team 1 ship roster and just stop there.  Deliberately sifting through all the noobs that come along, winning 9-0 every season.
    6.  Yes, there are some issues with GAC, mostly accounts that rarely play.  However, we all win/lose roughly an even amount of games per year.  If you're active you'll win more than you'll lose.
    7.  We used to match by GP, this was before rewards in GAC were so good.  It wasn't better.  Some players used to go 12-0 (we had 4 weeks, not 3 back then) month after month after month.  At least with the ladder win percentages are fair.

I don't want to watch my GP because of GP match making.  I don't really feel the need to win more matches than I do (and I would under GP, for a while anyway).  I don't want to see predators deliberately targeting new players with min-maxed rosters.  At least now,  you can't deliberately tank the system and be rewarded for it.

  • Matches should be made according to the general energy as before. Many players complain about this

    Straight from EA/CG:

My name is K, and after reviewing your case, I came to know that you are facing issues with player ranking, and match-making. No worries, I will do my best to help you with the issue.

I would want you to understand the following descriptions how the ranking, and matches works :

    Player Ranking Systems
    # Squad Arena Ranking:
    - Players are sorted into "shards" based on account creation date, and you climb ranks by defeating others within your shard.
    - Ranks are based on your performance and wins within the shard, not strictly on Galactic Power (GP).

    # GAC (Grand Arena Championships) Ranking:
    - Ranks are determined by a win/loss count. After each round, players are grouped based on their number of wins, and then sorted further by factors like GP as a tiebreaker.
    - At higher tiers, divisions reflect how consistently you win, not just roster power.

    Grand Arena Championships (GAC)
    # Core Factors for Matching:
    - Primary factor: Your top 80 characters' GP (not total GP or roster depth).
    - Players with similar top-squad power are paired, meaning you face accounts with similar “viable” GP that are eligible for GAC.
    - Winning streaks may pair you with others on similar streaks after the first round.

    # Skill and Inactivity Effects:
    - If a player regularly skips GAC or loses intentionally, they can drop in skill bracket despite having a powerful roster, which can lead to “whales” or high-GP players appearing in lower brackets.
    - In practice, returning or very experienced players sometimes drop into brackets with less experienced users due to inactivity or specific play patterns.

    Thanks again for reaching EA.

Well, it looks like CG have in the past prepared cut and pastes for those dear, clueless people at EA help.

I'm going to state that,  I know a lot more about GAC match making than 'K' or 'User173711749495996288206:49 AM'

Fine.  However, change 'not strictly on Galatic Power' to 'not Galatic Power'.  This is not how you use adverbs.

Not in the least bit true.  New GAC brackets are grouped with the 8 closest players.   Old GAC was sort of like this I guess.  Leagues were based off of GP.  You were grouped with other players of your division.  In week 2, you would face off against players with a similar record from week 1.  In week 3 and 4 the same, you'd face players with a similar record.  So, if you did well, it would get tougher from week 1-4 before the hard reset at the end of the season.

"Then sorted further by factors like GP as a tiebreaker"

Hmmmm, the leagues were originally sorted by GP.  I'm unsure if they were re-sorted after win/loss records.  Maybe.

At best, this is very very old and defunct.  At worst, it's what comes out of cattles' bums.

Well that's odd.  Because this reflects 'new' GAC.

Was this ever a thing?   80 top characters does ring a bell...............but was it a thing for GAC?  If it was, it's really really old and defunct.

This is 100% old GAC that disappeared a few years ago.  It clearly isn't new GAC because there is no hard reset after the season.

Well, this is current and from the new GAC!  It contradicts a lot of what was said prior.  Clearly they've been guided on how to deal with players that complain about big accounts dropping like a stone.

If this came out of EA help in the last couple of years........................that's really really bad.

CG_Meathead this came out of EA help 2 weeks ago.  This was an actual reply from your team.  Might want to have a talk with your team in India about updating customer service.
