I’ve just been astonished hearing people say one way on this question bc in my mind its a no brainer of not only who was written better but who was trained better and had 1000x more experience.

Yeah, there does seem to be a very clear option here. One of them was trained by a Jedi master who ran his own temple training students and defeated one of the most powerful sith lords of all time. The other was trained by a whiny teenage jedi knight who couldn't even get the rank of master.
