I was an uneducated fool when I started farming jmk at 2.5m gp because I thought he was cool, and now that I'm nearing the end of the farm, (aside from wat tambor who is shaping up to take another year just to get 100 shards, if you have any info on that as well let me know) I need to know who to use instead of CAT seeing as how I'm only 3m gp with no proving grounds. Any suggestions?
I did the same thing but worse, I bought the LSB at like 2.5 m GP but refused to pay for CAT figured id earn her legitimately. I do well with KAM or Yoda personally. Shakti or snips also works great. Kelleran beq, mace or temple gaurd would work on defense.

Picking up a GL early isn't a bad thing. You'll be able to do so many things you wouldn't be able to do otherwise. Sure, it's probably taken you a lot more time than unlocking a few lesser characters, but he'll take you much, much further.

You don't need Wat at 7 stars to work; especially now that you can relic characters that are under 7 stars. After his initial move, his job's pretty much done. The biggest issue is using datacrons when he's low relic. However, that's probably not so much of an issue at 3 million.
I need to know who to use instead of CAT
Well....sadly CAT adds an awful lot to this team. Any opportunity to get shards for her, take it. Other than that, General Kenobi is mandatory too. Snips tends to go in this team. Jedi Knight Anakin goes well with Snips....so you could add him. However, that takes away from the Qui-Gon team that is popular at lower GP levels.
Other than this, you have a lot of choice and can mix and match. Mace as a second tank is popular. Padme will work well. Jedi Master Yoda will also work. Barriss is an excellent 'plug n play' Gal Rep jedi. 5s is good for taking shots as a priority target. Shaak Ti is another great plug n play character.
You have a lot of choice, and you can adapt depending on the situation and as your account develops.
Tambor is a requirement for JMK, he has to be relic 7. My guild won't do anything but rote. But I would prefer not to leave, I guess if I have to.

Ouch that's a hard one! He is a great character though, especially if you have SEE. So....very much worth getting. That said, if he's so hard to pick up, probably JMK wasn't the best choice in GLs. The fact you've got so far, I think making 'What Tamborine' a goal (even if you temporarily change guilds) is paramount.
