Best way to farm?

The only time it would be better to focus one is if you need that one done faster. Since you need all of these characters to complete the same event, for purposes of that event, you won't benefit from the additional cost of focusing one of them. If you have other benefits for finishing one/some of them faster (e.g., being able to complete particular TB missions), then you would have to weigh that against the increased costs.
