Well if Boba uses execute he can block BHR revive... was surprised the first time I did it... definitely something to keep in mind for boba vs boba.
As for why you didn't get it back... probably has something to do with boba being revived, so you sort of didn't kill him.
I know if boba performs an assist attack and the enemy is already at 0 HP, you still get the shooting animation but it is not considered the kill shot, so no BHR.
