Calling out CG Communications

Meathead and anyone else doing comms, we need a response.

There have been many comments about how bad the experience is with this raid. Personally, I'm spending 3 or more hours. There are terribly frustrating conditions that kill player experience -- in particular, droidekas + bonus turns in wave 8. To fight all the way there and then not be able to kill the last two droids is ridiculous. If there was even a button that allowed you to kill your toons just to end the raid and take what score you've got, I'd happily take 2.6M instead of 2.7 just to end the pain, but instead I have to plug in my tablet and walk away for 20 minutes until one side or the other ends up dead.

This kind of thing shouldn't happen. You have to consider player experience. You have to make your game fun to play. People have begged for a sim button on the raid. Remember when people wanted more raids? Remember when people wanted a practice mode to play them for no rewards, just because the raids were fun? I do. The fact that players have been calling for sims should scare and shame you.

I did my best to present positive feedback about what players expect from the next raid rather than simply complaining (again) about what we dislike in this one. But I am growing ever more dissatisfied with the lack of response.

You have a comms team. Communicate. Do you play the raid? Do you enjoy having your buffs dispelled so that your team can't make any progress until Kit Fisto can get Potency UP back off cooldown? Do you like watching the enemy take turn after turn after turn, and heal up, erasing your progress as they attack?

What is it that you feel. What do you like about this raid that made you think it was good for release? What do you dislike about it in retrospect. Have you learned anything? Will anything change at all in the next raid in terms of prioritizing fun and player experience?

We need some communication here. There are lots of times when the forums can be useful without your direct input. Players can help players in many, many ways. But we don't design raids, and I'm honestly wanting to know if the game is going to continue to be worth playing. I want to hear from you that you understand that restarting long battles is not fun.

I don't want to quit the game. I've made many friends here. I've got a good guild. But I'm not putting up with this indefinitely.

I know that you've read our threads. I know that you're aware that there's deep dissatisfaction with the raid. Use your comms team and communicate, otherwise we have no choice but to assume the worst.

  • this raid had a ton of potential.  but yeah the bonus turn on droidekas and STAPs helped ruin it.  but so did the mass enemy healing making your effort next to none, but also the protection disruption that still affects gungans when it shouldn't, and when people do have disruption they get mass focused and killed by the 5000 turns the enemy takes while you do nothing. Plus the annoying buff dispel on the enemy commando droid who cant take a constant last turn, always randomly taking the first turn screwing up the jedi team.   so many things making it unfun and more of a slog then a fun event.

I dread when this raid starts up instead of being happy.  that's just horrible

  • I highly doubt they're going to do anything about the raid at this point, they're more likely working on the next raid. That said, I do agree with you. Almost immediately since the raid launched, players have been complaining about the ludicrous amounts of RNG and the overtuned enemies, some, even you yourself a few times, have even offered their own suggestions on how to make the raid playable and enjoyable on the one side and still challenging on the other. I could list a few of those, and even one or two of my own ideas that I came up with just while reading your post:

    1. Alter the bonus turn modifier. Make it so that only the regular B1s can get bonus turns. Don't include the STAPs, the DDKs and the Command Droid.
    2. Make the bonuses from the fleet attacks more impactful and permanent. For example, the 1st bonus could make it so deal additional true damage during your turn, the 2nd bonus permanently disables the modifier it was used on, the 3rd gives you the Moral buff until the end of the battle instead of just two turns.
    3. Reduce healing. Make it so that B1s, DDKs and STAPs can only heal for health, and only the Command Droid can heal them for protection.
    4. Make the Hero/Faction bonuses more impactful. I'm not expecting Maul, for example, to be able to one-shot enemies right away, but the bonuses we have are pathetic, especially compared to those in the Krayt raid.
    5. Remove the bonus turn modifier and replace it with something else. Have something like "Enemies cannot gain bonus turn meter or recover health and protection".
    6. Do not reset TM at the start of each wave. This is especially frustrating during the Maul battle. You get 100% TM with Maul or Sidious, and suddenly the next wave shows up, you have your TM reset and have to wait what feels like an eternity while the entire enemy goes before you. Enemies appear to have increasing HP and Prot with each wave and the damage from Maul takes a long time to actually be noticeable, so it's not like we'll be able to kill off the entire enemy team if we start with full TM.
    7. Reduce the assists from DDKs. It could just be me, but the DDKs are supposed to have only a 35% chance at assisting, yet it seems more like 90%.
    8. Fix the bugs. Protection Disruption can still be inflicted on Gungans. DDKs and the Command Droid have bugged cooldowns. Whatever else.
    9. Remove/reduce some of the enemy stats. Higher Critical Avoidance, Defense, Health AND Tenacity with each tier, along with the bonuses they gain after Enrage? Not fun. You can still have those stats increase, but by tens, i.e., 10%, 20%, 30%, so on, instead of 20%, 40%, 60%, etc.

There are probably more, but those are just the ones that come to mind right away. The point is, there are so many things that CG could do to improve QoL in the raid, and even the game as a whole, while still making things challenging, but they don't. There is little to no communication about anything these days, every update comes with at least two or three bugs, there are month-old bugs that are still not fixed, they make so many things depend on RNG instead of actual skill, the whole P1-Levi-Dagger thing, what else. If I've said it once, I'll say it again, the only reason I play this game is because it's Star Wars, otherwise I'd have quit by now.

  • This P1 thing is finally pushing me into the complainer category personally.  I'm in no danger of quitting yet, and I don't blame people like Meathead (I want to stress this.  I bet he feels super dirty when he has to tell us some of this stuff, heh.) that have to spout the information, but here lately, so much of the information and reasoning has been pretty much insults to our intelligence.  I know they're never gonna come straight out and say the stuff they do is to make more money off of us, but some of the stuff they do feed us information-wise is crazy.  Then when everyone builds up disgust for a while, they crown it with something awful (like this Dagger nonsense), and immediately turn around and mask it with a QoL change or a new LSB, as if those will actually make us forget (honestly sometimes it actually works.  Those first LSBs made everyone totally forget about whatever the huge complaint of the moment was (Idr)).  While I agree there needs to be more and better communication, if it isn't going to be honest, I'd almost prefer the typical silence.
