Rebels have a ton, and with rebels there are quite a few different eras so it makes no sense. Kanaan is a Jedi that left the order when Order 66 happened and he felt guilty for fleeing and leaving his master behind (I'm not sure how far along in his training he was though), whom got killed. He rejoined many years later when he began to bond with Ezra, and became his teacher.
This argument is getting somewhat convoluted. Your rant was initially about formula for power in a game, which I get, but honestly disagreed with your assessment. This game is like Magic the Gathering in that it is all about the combos you can come up with to kill your opponent. Magic the gathering has had a slow but inexorable power creep since it's inception in the early 90's. This is the major reason it is still being played today. If they hadn't continued to up the ante, everyone would have gotten bored with it and moved on. It's also the formula they use behind anime like Dragonball and Naruto. Which have both enjoyed 10+ years of success as well.
Now you have switched to an argument about flavor as a means of saying it needs to be changed. The two arguments are often contradictory. In order to honor each character, they all need to be op... but if everyone's op, no one is. Then we have the problem where if no one is op, then there's no challenge for us to beat, and no goal to strive towards either.
A game without power creep is one that you hurry up and beat and put it away. That is not at all the goal behind this type of game.
